Honestly pain wise the industrial hurt me more probably because it's two holes with one bar compared to the tongue which is one.

My tongue didn't so much hurt it was the swelling and not being able to eat that killed me! All the tongue is, is a slight pinch, but the next few days are AWFUL! They put a huge bar in so that way when it swells (and believe me it will) the tongue can expand. I never had a problem with bad breath or chipping my teeth. As long as you aren't constantly playing with it with your teeth and are brushing your teeth and tongue on a regular basis you should be fine.

Good luck to you!

I got my belly butoon pierced when I was 16....hurt like hell....my tongue didnt hurt at all....There is some truth to the story...If you dont keep it clean an infection can set and you wont notice it for a long time, and you could die from it...if they catch it and it is too late then you may have to have your tongue removed....sounds nice right...however the odds of that happening are slim to none.....there is a possability that they can hit a major artery in your tongue if they dont know what they are doing that is also a possability......Dentist love and hate tongue rings...they get a plaque build up just like your teeth and can cause problems down the line with your oral hygine, and there is a good chance that if you move your tongue just right when belting something out you can break a tooth.... Dont go for the deal go to a tattoo-piercing shop and they will do it right the first time...there are tons of horror stories out there about everything....that did not stop me from getting it done....my suggestion...dont get it done...its cool for the first year or so (after your healing time of course most peoples tongues swell up pretty bad), but after the first year its just there and after your spaghetti and meatballs wrap around it the millionth time you will get sick of it, when you go for a serious job interview they will look at you like you are a teenager and not an adult....just not worth it............

LOL.... if you know; it can chip your teeth, cause you to have ROTTEN breath, endanger your life not only 'if they hit your vein' but also from the infection that it can cause, what more can 'You Want Someone To Say', Except It Is A Sign Of A Mental Disorder and An Inferiority Complex that a tongue piercing CAN'T CURE!!! SEEK MENTAL HELP!

I'M SERIOUS!

Now that's as serious of an answer as you can get!!!

I had both for several years (had to remove them due to job) and Industrial hurts 100 times more than the tongue. Plus the tongue heals in 5 days (if you follow the piercers instructions). Your tongue will bleed slightly. I consider myself a bleeder and I only bled a few drops. No bad breath, no chipped teeth. But as soon as it totally heals and swelling goes down, get a shorter bar that hugs your tongue (they have to use a long bar to pierce it with b/c the tongue swells). If not you will talk funny and may spit when you talk. I always had a metal ball and a flesh colored plastic one to wear at job interviews. I had no problems.

My boyfriend has had his tounge pierced and he said it didnt really hurt that much. He said the piercings he has had in his ears hurt the most!

He couldnt eat or speak properly for the first couple of days but after he got used to it he was fine!

Dont worry about them hitting a vein. Most places look at your tounge first to see if you can have it pierced as some people cant due to where their veins lie.

I say go for it!

Yes it hurts like hell for awile. after I got mine done I thought they did hit a vein, they didnt, it just takes awile to heal. It dosent cause bad breath you still brush your tongue. I do wear the metal stud unless I want some decoration. In my case the platic irritates my bottom front teeth if I leave it in to long. Its worth it, Go for it !!!!!!

Please whatever you do DO NOT do it yourself !!! And I have swallowed a few plastic ones youll just have to decide whats best for you

i have my tongue done, and have had it for 6 years.. (i got it done for my 20th bday)
i haven't had a single problem with it..
i would recommend getting it done professionally

it doesn't hurt when you get it done (i've had my snug done which probably hurts as much as an industrial) the snug hurt more..

the only problems really are eating after it's been done.. and speaking.. after you get it done for a few days its hard to eat.. and speak.. i couldn't really say more than a few sentences at at time because it would be uncomfortable to talk
but a week or so after than its all good :)

i had mine done a few years ago i wont lie it really hurt my tounge swelled for a couple days but after that had no problems best to get it pierced with surigcal steel then its up to you if you want to change it. i took mine out after a couple of months coz i had the habit of griding it across my teeth but my friend had it done with me and shes still got hers in and shes had no problem

always ensure that you have it pierced proffessional by someone that knows what they are doing

i have a tounge ring.... and im not sure what an industrial iz.... hmmm.... but anyway, it doesnt hurt for more than two seconds.... once it's in, it's in.... and it'll feel sore afterwards for about 3 days.... topz.... i have a friend who uses metal balls.... she said she swallowed a few because the metal ones tend to unscrew themselves easily.... plastic ones stay.... i've used plastic balls the whole year ive had mine done.... also, i did my own tounge.... its easy.... and i didnt have to pay 20, 40, or anymore for gettin it done....
