I already know what a lot of the Haters will say: Corruption, greed, no integrity, drug/ alcohol users, a pawn for the “MAN”.

Why don’t thieves trust other people? It is because they think everyone else is like them! It goes for racist and Haters. Just because you are easily corrupted, greedy, have no integrity, use pounds of dope, and pawn for satan, does not mean everyone else IS!

The problem is that you cannot reason with a lot of these people. So let me ask the fence straddlers, what is it about law enforcement you hate?

I know we don’t like to be corrected when we are wrong or make a mistake; Ok I understand that but what is that you HATE about those who selflessly sacrifice themselves for others?

What do you do to make a difference in others lives? Are you willing lose your life to save others? Are you willing to help a neighbor in need?

I know their are bad officers! But the percentage is far less than that of the general public!

Also those who support Law Enforcement and the rule of law, Sound Off! SILENT MAJORITY NO MORE!

Ignorance. The majority of people who complain about law enforcement have no idea what it takes to do the job. They get their knowledge of police officers from the negative news reports they see, movies, and chance meetings where they are being written a ticket. Of course there are officers that should not be in a position of authority; however, the great majority of police officers do their job well and are in law enforcement because they want to make a difference. It is easy to write songs and tell stories about "bad apple" type police officers; if the average citizen could see what a typical work week is like for a police officer they would have a greater appreciation for them.

Another reason is that there will always be a percentage of the population who disrespect any type of authority. These people can always "do the job better" or find something wrong with those in authority over them. People like this can not be satisfied, unless they are complaining.

And there is that small percentage of the population who have had the big time negative run-ins with the police. These are the ones who deal drugs, beat their wives, and so on. It is understandable that they would not like the police. They are diametrically opposed to what the average police officer stands for.

I come from a small town, where everybody knows everybody. From the State Troopers, to the County Sheriff's Department as well as Local Cops, we grew up together. The law breakers know who they are and they know right from wrong, but let them get caught and it's always the cops picking on them or their kids, never is it "I did the crime, I'll do the time or pay the fine". The speeders, drunks, dopers, thieves, all of them cry out injustice when the cops are around and claim they are just being harassed by law enforcement. When all of us need a cop for a legit reason and none available where are they? Their probably at the station filing paperwork on the repeat offenders or pulling over the same drunk they pulled over 2 nights ago, or out on an undercover sting operation to stop the dealers from pushing more dope on our kids (mind you, they more than likely arrested these same people before) but thanks to our legal system and shady lawyers and crooked judges today our Law Enforcement officers are just beating their heads against a brick wall. I don't condone bad cops that take pay offs or police brutality in any form but it does make me wonder for some of them that just keeps arresting the same crooks, cheats, swindlers and druggies if eliminating them all together wouldn't be such a bad idea. I mean if the lawyers keep getting them off and the judges are dismissing the cases or our prisons and/or jails are not rehabilitaing these same offenders then why not? Vigilanties? I'd much rather have law enforcement carry that gun than I would a doper or a drunk

When I hear about a colleague that gets pulled over in a bright yellow Hummer because, "you look like a drug dealer", it makes my head fry. Not breaking any traffic rules, or anything, the cop just thought he fit an MTV sterotype. At least have the deciency to make up a traffic violation!

I can't stand small town cops (at least the ones in my small town). They are undereducated egomaniacs. I'm not sure if the big city cops are any better.

Now, to their credit, they do a job most of us don't want, don't get paid squat for doing it, and deal with more b/s in a single day than most of us could endure in a year. But I do agree with what was said earlier about bad laws creating bad cops. The problem now is that we have a "for profit" prison industry, which means they have their own lobby, which means that we will never have fewer laws than we have right now, we only get more and more. Which is the REAL problem. Not the enforcers, just what they are supposed to be enforcing.

So in short, I respect what they do, but I will always be fearful of law enforcement. All they'd have to do is find that one seed in the carpet from when I smoked out once 10 years ago and that'd be all she wrote.

I for one have had a terrible experience with law enforcement and the legal system and it has hurt my children and me. I have a hard time trusting law enforcement but I know there are good officers out there. It is just hard to know which ones are straight up and doing there job. In my case the whole county I used to live was dirty and the good officers were afraid to speak up. I have wrote to my state congress, senate, the federal and state department of Justice and it seems they want the whole matter to go away. So I have some major concerns on how corrupt law enforcement is becoming along with our government as a whole.

You know what, if you really were
serving
and
protecting
then noone would hate you.
Personally I don't hate you, I feel sorry for you because in reality you opreess and bind and the court system is a for profit business. If I wanted to be extorted I'd go see a mafia godfather, thanks so much.

All law enforcement I have come accross are self rightouse hypocrites for the most part. Some are still good guy. But to use threat of incarceration or force is not the way to handle people and you all never learn therefor by definition you are INSANE: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a differnt result.
You have to give respect to get respect and that applies to rich poor black white cop criminal, etc.
we all have value and talents to contribute wheter an addict or a president.

To add to the officer above me.

We try to be polite and cordial to all people to the extent they are polite and cordial back. We want all police experiences to go smooth and safely for everyone involved.

A majority of the people cops come into contact are in a state of what they percieve to be the biggest emergency of their life. I could go from one call where a lady is panicing because her oven wont stop beeping to another where a teenage son is violently reacting to drugs he ingested and wont respond to reason.

In between helping kids cross the street to school to stopping a car full of meth making supplies we might deal with you. Put that into perspective if you have had a negative or positive experience with law enforcement.

We dont know you and dont know what to expect from you. Grandmothers have put knitting needles through the throats of cops. We have had bikers assist us in locating meth houses. We honestly dont know what to expect from you when we arrive at your call.

We must take control of the situation, thats why you called us. We mediate the arguements, stop the fist fights, take dangerous drivers off the road. Being in control might not feel right if you are someone who is normally the alpha male in your area. We are there now, just relax and let us work it out.

We dont ignore rapist, bank robbers, terrorist and natural disasters to stop you and ticket you. If you enjoy driving with your family without drunks, speeders, reckless drivers, ect you have to accept the tickets to maintain order on the roads.

Yes I would enjoy a donut, but I probably have a better diet than most of the people making that old joke.

I don't have a problem with Law enforcement nor the rules, but I have to agree with a couple of other answerers here, there are a LOT of power trips going on in the day to day Police interactions I have seen.
I have met good Cops, and bad ones. I know one of the reasons they come off so often as overbearing meanies is the type of people they routinely deal with. But it still annoys me. Uphold the law and do what you need to. But courtesy to those committing no wrongdoing is still required to earn my respect.
As for people who hate them, who knows all the reasons. Some are criminals and have a pretty rational reason. Some are just blame-shifters and have no rationality.

A majority of people who come in contact with me, hate me because of the uniform I wear, because they have been arrested before, or they have been in and out of the system.
Of course your going to hate what puts you back in check, and punishes you for stuff you tried to get away with.

To respond to someones comment,
"most" officers are not bullies. We are doing our job. You tell me how you are suppose to treat a domestic terrorist like a Crip, Blood, Loma Baker? (and their gangs have been responsible for drive by's and murders). Should I say "hello sir, I reallly think you are innocent until proven guilty, so could you get in the back of my car please, because I have to take you to jail." No, they most likely are gonna be carrying a gun or a knife, so I'm gonna be safe for me, so I can go home, and do what I have to do to get them in custody. The officers that try and do a low key arrest, end up having to chase the bastards because most dont want to go willingly, but anyone with something negative to say doesn't know the first thing about law enforcement, what it takes, or how to do our job. And if you were in law enforcement and have something negative to say, you probably aren't an officer anymore, becuase you burned out.

I love how so many people can think a "majority" of us are corrupt, bullies, and incompetent, but then call the police to solve your problems. If were so bad, dont call!

I dont expect anyone to put me on a pedestal or thank me for what I do, but dont sit there and tell me you could do better when your probably a 23 year old guy working as a pizza delivery driver with no college education. Put up or shut up.

I have so much hostility because the majority of the public i see everyday are the people that everyone wants to be protected from. Those people genuinely HATE me. I never thought "Good" people would hate me too, just because they had a bad experience with an officer regarding a traffic citation.

I'm done venting, because I could go on forever...

I would not take a law enforcement job for any amount of money. Bad laws make criminals. Like driving 80 miles per hr. on open four lane highway in good weather with little traffic. Cops should take the conditions into consideration before they give a ticket. Cars are designed to drive safely at 80 mph. If laws were based on behavior instead of possession cops would have a better job. Just my opinion, from a person who is good citizen. If a person is not bothering anybody, leave them alone.

I am a law enforcement supporter. For the most part they do the job they were trained to do. I don't socialize with anyone in law enforcement or fire protection because they seem to get some kind of a god complex. Their egos are so big they have to carry them around in a duffel bag. I can't stand people whom are full of self importance. I know some people who are afraid of the law for no apparent reason. Thiat's what I don't understand. Make's me wonder what they are hiding.
