I went to the thrift store and bought about 10 frames sizes 3x5 to 8x10 some are wood some are plastic. It worked well in our apartment but we moved into a house and now I don't know if it "goes".

It sounds like a cool arrangement, but it would depend on the rest of the furnishing in your home. If your home was furnished in a very formal style then it might not look so good, but if it is casual and cool then it should be okay, besides the most important thing is that you like it.

In a house, it might look lonely or at odds with the more formal or personalized details that a house has over an apartment. But if you start to fill the house up with other eclectic decorations, it will all come together eventually.

You can have an eclectically designed and furnished home granted you have at least some theme tying them all together. Generally that theme should be something like color. Not to say you should have all your furniture in one single color, but for example earth tones, high key, etc... I see no reason why you shouldnt be able to mix up your frames, it makes for a more lively environment.

i like to design in a clash. i think the different frames could work but they have to have something else in the room that ties them together like a lamp shade or a throw with a color scheme that ties them all in.
Example: i have chocolate colored walls and an African/Hindu/Chicano influenced antique & modren art decor. but all of my bedroom accessories have a hint of gold & silver which is what ties them in together. you might toy with the idea of making black & white copies of the pictures that you plan on putting in each of the frames. just an idea.

It's your house therefore it is up to you what "goes". The current fashion for what "goes" and what doesn't go changes like the weather. We Could all drive ourselves and each other mad if we tried to keep up. So my advice is don't bother. Put them up, if they make you feel uncomfortable, take them down or move them; if it feels right keep them up. If people who don't live in your house don't like them, it is none of their concern and ignore them.
