I have a soon to be 4yr old son myself and he went through a small phase of pissing on his brother and on the dog and on the bunk beds... He thought it was funny but with some talking to and a little time it passed like i said its a phase and boys will be boys.... Good luck :)

I would suggest putting some of those hook locks on the bedroom doors for awhile until he grows out of this little stage. What worked with my boys to give me info on why they would do things is I would have them draw what it was that was bothering them or making them feel the way they were feeling. It sounds stupid but it worked. Its hard for a kid to tell a parent things when they are that small. Picture being his size and having some giant standing over you alittle mad and asking you why you did something wrong. You'd be a little scared or nervous wouldnt you? And if they can draw out how they feel they dont have to face you while doing it. Another suggestion is put some throw rugs with rubber backs on them where he has been doing this and if he does it again take him outside with the rug and a bucket and soapy water and brush and make him scrub the throw rug, and not just a quicky job. make him scrub and scrub till he gets tired and he wont want to keep pissing behind the dressers any more. You might want to keep reminding him during the day every 20 minutes or so that he better not be pissing there. Its a hassel I know but I doubt he will keep doing it much longer. Just tell him to draw you a picture of what he was feeling when he did it. It should give you a clue as to why. Good luck

My 4 year old lil boy started doing that (not behind the dresser though, it was just in their room all together) about 6 months ago and me and my husband put a stop to that! He had the same answer. They know what they're doing. Thats bullcrap! We tried to understand why first and really I couldn't figure it out. We just started taking away things that he likes and we put him in time out and we made him clean up the mess himself. I put gloves on him and made him scrub the carpet.. He finally just stopped on his own. It only lasted about a month. I wou;ld definately repremend him for it and let him know that he cannot get away with this behavior and there is gonna be consequences. When he sees life sucks when you act like a dog he'll start being a big boy.

it could be he is exploring, or an obsession. He could be doing target practice. My oldest son had a thing about seeing how far he could pee and would do this in different areas. He called it target practice. This I found out after smelling urine in the house in various places. Not uncommon. Just disgusting and expensive. I had gotten the idea that linoleum was cheapest and easier to clean up. A friend and I were talking about this and her son called it marking his territory. The best way to get them to stop is have him clean up the mess.

Kids do weird things. Try not to make a big deal about it. Just talk to him about his actions. Don't be afraid to tell him that he made a big mess and that he cost you money to correct his mistake. remind him he can tell you stuff, like that he did something wrong like pissing behind a dresser. Make sure he knows big boys use the potty.

find out if he was sleep walking when he did it.
many children go to the bathroom in a state of sleep that ends up not being the bathroom.
your son might also be exercising his creativity.
need to talk, get to the root.
a simple answer for that type of stunt should not suffice.
you need to be calm and direct, expect to talk about the subject for at least a half hour.that way the reaction to his behavior will not be forgotten

It might have been that when he was in there & it was just closer. He probably did it once and nothing happened to him then, so he just continued to do it. I think if I were you, he would be in trouble, but he is just four. He wouldn't understand the repercussions of going behind the dresser and what damage that could do.

Make a big deal about it, and if you catch him doing it again whoop that azz.

And don't believe anything that comes out of his mouth. 4 year olds are right in the fantasy zone. They can not differentiate between real and imaginary.

My son told me that a kid in school was killed by a door that fell on him. Told me all about the ambulance coming and everything. It was all made up.

Sometimes when children are having so much fun playing, they don't want to stop and go all the way to the bathroom. Or its night and they don't want to get up and walk all the way to the bathroom.

Make it clear that his actions are unacceptable, and you may have to supervise him constantly to make sure he isn't doing it any more.

If it makes you feel better, it's fairly common with little boys. I have one friend who discovered his little boy was peeing in the plants and another who found out her little boy was pissing out the window.
