My dad gets pretty upset when he hears I miss school, so half the time I just tell him it was cramps and he backs off. But I don't want to play that card today.
I told him I would go in after first period, and I fully intended to, but I was exhausted and I really am sick. (Sore throat, coughing, sneezing, tired, sore) My dad's never believed me when I've told him I'm sick- I had mono last year and he freaked out over how much school I was missing. How do I go about telling him I never went in and avoid a confrontation over it?

Most of you seem to be under the impression that I faked sick to stay home. I didn't fake- I really am sick. I got sick within the first three days last week, and have been going in since. Today was just especially unbareable.
And don't worry about my grades- my grades are fine, but it doesn't matter anyway because I'm changing schools in a week and my grades aren't coming with me.

So, with that said, does anyone have any REAL advice, besides whining about their own kids and their own jobs?

If you want him to believe that you're actually sick, then don't ask to go anywhere later or have fun today if you stayed home. Even if you feel better later, act sick!

Since I'm a mother of a 17 year old that pulls this crap, I'll tell you what you should do...
quit being stupid, get off the computer, get your butt ready and GO TO SCHOOL... the year has just started and you want to start off like this? Why don't you really want to go to school? Did you not do your homework? School is not that hard.
If I have cramps or if I have a cold, I have to go to work still. You will feel just as bad at home as you will at school so you may as well just go.
What grade are you in? You have it SOOO easy as a teenager. You have nooo idea. Just buck up little camper, turn off the t.v. and GO TO SCHOOL!!

Tell him the truth. People do get sick, don't play the cramps or mono thing all though getting checked out would be a good thing.

Ask him to go buy you some over the counter medications from your local pharmacy. When he asks why, explain to him how you feel. Try and provide as much detail as you can but not so much that you sound like your embellishing. Good luck.

First, make sure that you are not slacking off, and, secondly, ask for his respect and trust. And if he gives you those, you will prove yourself. Not just to him, but to yourself and the rest of the world. Good luck and peace!

Tell the truth and accept the consequences. You can't convince anyone of anything. They have to do that themselves.

Just tell him the Truth. Always tell the Truth.

Go to school. Don't you think that sometimes you will have to go to work when you do not feel good. And don't play the cramps card. Women who do that are so lame, don't you wonder why men blame everything on women's periods. Geez!

Tell him you were waiting for your pregnancy test results. Should take his mind off the school thing.
