How to Boil an Egg

1. Pierce the eggs on one end with a pushpin. This prevents the eggs from exploding while cooking
2. Place the eggs in the bottom of a large pot. Avoid iron cookware, as that will encourage the formation of the green skin.
3. Cover the eggs with cold, clean water.
4. Put the pot on the stove and heat until boiling.
5. Once the water reaches a rolling boil, lower the heat and set the timer for 12-15 minutes, depending on your altitude. Higher altitudes require slightly longer cooktimes for eggs.
6. After the time has elapsed, cool the eggs immediately. Either lift them out into icewater, or run the cold water faucet into the pot for a minute or two to flush out the boiling water.

Fill a pot with the number of eggs you want to cook and cover them with water. Put on the stove on high heat and as soon as water starts to boil, time it for about 3-4 minutes. Dump boiling water out of pan. Run eggs under cold water until eggs are cooler to the touch, and then break the shell and peel clean.

Hard boiled eggs: Using a covered saucepan with 6 eggs covered with tap water turn heat on high and set timer for 23 minutes. When boiling starts turn heat down to low. After time is up, remove from heat and replace water with iced water until cooled.

Place the egg in a saucepan. Run cold water into the saucepan until the water is 1 inch above the egg. Place the saucepan on a stove and cook over medium heat until the water begins to boil.
Reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes for soft-boiled eggs or 10 to 15 minutes for hard-boiled eggs.
Remove the egg with a spoon or ladle and let it cool slowly, or run cold water over it to cool it more quickly.

Depends how you like it!

I boil the water in the kettle first, then put a little vinegar along with the water in a pan (this means if the egg cracks a little the white doesn't all come floating out).

Then I put the egg in gently with a spoon and leave it for 6 minutes. That way the yolk is still pretty runny but the white should be cooked. Leave it for 5 if you like it really runny and longer if you like it hard boiled.

put the egg in a pan of water on the stove, turn the heat on, bring it to a boil, then boil for 10 minutes shut off the heat and let it sit for another 10-15 and you will have a perfect hard boiled egg !

you can eat it with salt, pepper or both but try it with a little horseradish sauce...yummy

Just put the egg still in its shell in cold water. Turn the heat up to boil and let it sit for about 20 minutes after the boiling starts. Pour cold water on it after it is cooked to shock and crack the shell for easy peeling.
