Nobody taking coumadin can donate blood. You'd bruise more easily, and they may not even be able to get you to stop bleeding. Sorry.

Of course, that doesn't mean you can't help in other ways! Most blood centers make use of volunteers to watch people after they donate, hand out cookies, and stuff. You can still be part of the process, if you want!

And good for you for even wanting to! ( :

Patients who have had blood clots in the veins or arteries will generally need to receive anti-clotting drugs such as Coumadin or heparin. If clotting is severe, aspirin or a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory if you are taking coumadian you will not be able to donate blood.

You can still donate, but tell them everything you have & are taking, & they will probably not use the blood. They will put a sicker on it so it is not used. It may go for research, or something, I am not sure.

You can contact the Red Cross to be certain just in case they do need your blood for research. They may need it badly for that reason.

No thanks. Blood transfusions are not for me. I would rather have an expander and let my own blood do the best it can. Too many chances of getting something worse than I had to start with.
