Or did god create thousands of different strains of each virus so that he could realise a newer version once an antiboiotic is found?

According to the biblethumpers there is no such thing as evolution so that MUST mean that god is up there scraping new viruses off a petri dish all the time.

God is Psycotic

Im betting that the bible-thumpers will probably skirt around this question by insulting me.

Of course they evolve, that's why there's a new flue vaccine every year, and the truth is, there are a lot even literal 7-day creationist that know and understand natural selection in our world today, they just have a hard time with applying that concept to the origins of the earth. (I personally think that to God, a day isn't the same as our 24-hour period, so I don't have a problem with that).

But just a little clarification, antibiotics are for bacterial infections, not viruses.

best wishes

Microevolution does occur. This is when mutations occur which change the genetic code, or when a group of animals are separated, and they're cut off from the rest of the genes in the larger group. After a while, a new species of animal may form. This isn't evolution, evolution needs new information to arise. This occurs when they lose the information available in the larger group, and so a new species forms.

The same happens with antibiotic resistance. Mutations occur which corrupt or, at best, switch around the genetic code, making them immune to antibiotics.

Viruses, to me, proof above all else that evolution is correct.

Their ability to jump from species to species, to change delivery system, to stay dormant for centuries and then re-emerge more powerful than ever will one day prove the ruination of the human species...they are THE perfect evolutionary machines

micro-evolution not macro-evolution. I will tell God that he is sick and has to be seen by you to cure His condition.
