I have this constant problem a lot! Should I use a anti-frizz or a anit-poof product?

I have virgin hair meaning no perms, no relaxers, no breakage or damage. I never really did anything to it. I use a herbal shampoo once a week with a lquid herbal hair food and give it a vitamin e oil treatment.

I used to have that problem, and still do if I don't do what I do now. I tried all different types of hair gels. I finally found that Suave sculpting hair gel, alcohol-free, works like a dream. What I do is Wash my hair, condition it, then as soon as I get out of the shower, I just kinda squeeze a tad bit of water out, so i don't drip all over the place. Don't towel dry! Just keep it damp. I then comb it out, all the knots, then I just squeeze some gel into my hands, gently rub it through my hair, comb it in a little, then start from the ends of my hair and kind scrunch it with my hands. Just do that until all your hair is nice, damp, curly, and when it air drys, it will look gorgeous...If you don't believe, check out mine!

I'm not sure how to explain why it turns poofy, I've read it before, it's something about the way the hair cuticle lies. I have this problem. My stylist told me I wasn't using enough styling mousse, she then proceeded to put a ton of it on my wet hair and told me to let it air dry. I thought that was way too much mousse, but it worked! Now that's what I do. I try to find mousse that doesn't make my hair sticky or hard.

I have extreme naturally curly hair. I've recently found that Matrix's Sleek.look shampoo and conditioner works really well to help cut down the frizz. This particular product is formulated to keep the frizz down for straight hair.... and it actually works great! I of course continue w/using a moisturizing mousse and hair spritz. The best way to dry the hair is with a fan too. (I know - strange... but w/a fan (like a little table top one used during summer months) is 100% non heated air as in a hair dryer. Even the "cool" feature on a hair dryer is heated air... just not "hot air". This works great for me... and I have perfectly shaped spiral curls each time.

Curly hair only goes poofy when it's dry because generally people with curly hair have a LOT of volume. Like me. My advice is don't blow dry your hair and use a difuser every once in a while. It works really well. I use this Dove stuff. It comes in a little bottle with a blue top. It's sort of like the hand soap bottles that you get for your bathroom you know? The ones with the pumps. Anyways, don't use it too much though. It will make your hair look really greasy. Also, anti-frizz shampoos will work really well too!
Good luck!!

I have real curly hair also and it gets real dry at times too. What I use is Sunsilk. There's a product for every women with hair troubles. Try using the green bottle which is anti frizz as your shampoo, use the pink bottle which is for dry or dameged hair which you use as your conditioner, and finally use the 24/7 creme which makes your hair real soft and not so dry.But what causes dry or damaged hair is when women use alot of heat on there hair. What I mean by that is women use to much of there curling iron and flat iron. It strips down the hair alot. So leave that up to the professionals. Also try to only use curling irons once every 3 weeks. I wish you luck on trying to find the right product for you!!!!

The cuticle gets rough and expands when hair is dry, when it is moisturized it gets smoother. Deep conditioners are great for curly hair, they have really saved mine! It used to be frizzy all the time but now it is smooth and shiny. Neutrogena and Pantene make great ones, I use them once or twice a week by mixing some conditioner with water and leaving it on for 20 minutes like a hair mask, then shampoo and use a little more conditioner. The poofiness will lessen each time!

If you could put a single strand of your hair under a microsope, you would see something that looks like a snake with a lot of scales overlapping. When your hair gets wet, these "scales" lay down on top of each other, like dominoes when they fall. This makes what hairdressers call the hair "tight". As your hair dries, whether you use a blow dryer or let it air dry, these scales rise up, allowing the water trapped under them to leave, causing your hair to become poofy. If you use an anti-frizz product, you will basically be causing the scales to stay down, which will keep the hair from frizzing.

I feel ya. I have curly, curly, curly *** hair, and now finally after 22 years I think I might have it under control. The main thing that you need to realize is that you can not just get up and go. Your hair has to dry naturally, and that takes forever. I use Dove Intense moisturizer Shampoo and Conditioner. I shampoo my hair once a week, and condition it everyday. I also use Dove Frizz-ese it really does what it is supposed to. Then I put a little control gel in it and let it dry. Moisturizer is the key thing.
You have to figure out what is good for your hair.
