From personal experience I found that feeding your dog just meat isn't a bad thing. It all depends on what type of meat they were feeding him. Human meat whether cooked or uncooked is usually not good for dogs. Human meat is meant to be cooked because there are allot of enzymes and and bacteria on the meat that needs to be cooked off. Though not all enzymes are bad for dogs. Plus when you cook the meat you normally would get for your yourself and cook it, it looses allot of nurtuion that is great for you furry pals!
There are raw food diets that are actually great for your dog. I recommend natures variety. It is flash frozen so that all the stuff that is good and healthy for you llapso apso is still kept in the meat. What they do is they also infuse other nurtuional things into it that is good for your pal.
I would recommend trying the raw food diet, because like allot of people are saying it is hard to switch from one to another. With this it is not only healthy for your dog, but he still has that meat that he likes. Not only that but it can make it easier to switch from the meat to dry food. If you do switch from the meat to the dry food you do want to switch gradually. For a good healthy change of food it normally takes at least a month to do so. It really depends on your dog. You want to do like a mixture the first week you want to try and do 25% new food to 75% meat. Try and pay attention to his stool because when you change food it will become a little loose. When you think he has adjusted (usually a week to a week and a half) to the 25-75 mix go to 50-50 and wait until he has adjusted. Then so on and so forth until he or she is completely on the food that you desire for him or her to be on. DO allot of research on what food you think will be best for him. If you do decide to change the food again you want to do the 25-75 thing again, because just like humans they can get an upset stomache if you change the food to fast! Good Luck!

What is wrong with the dog eating meat?????? It is definately better for the dog than the commercial dog food they sell at the grocery stores farm and homes and even your vets office. This junk has by-products and rendered diseased decaying rotten animals in it including euthanized cats and dogs. This is a fact regardless of what people want to believe.
I feed my dogs the raw all natural diet and have for the past 10 years and these dogs are completely healthy.
You want a all natural dog food go with innova it is a natural food and so much better than the commercialized dog foods, but slowly wean off the meat Or keep feeding the meat and the innova just cut down on the meat.

I have a dog that is part llahso apso & one thing I do for her that she loves is when I fry meat I take the grease from it & pour it over her dry dog food & mix it up. She loves it, & it makes her coat thick & shiny. I wouldn't do it on an every day basis but once or twice a week is good for them. And maybe this could help you gradually get him to start eating real dog food & off of the meat. Good luck.

Find a good dog food that has chucks of meat in it. My dogs eat food from a company called Merrick. They make Grammy's Pot Pie, Cowboy Feast, and other funny names, but the dogs love it! It's a bit expensive, but if you want to mix it with some dry food that should work. 15 lbs doesn't seem incredibly overweight for a llapso apso, it depends on his height.

ok in case you wanted greater clever solutions you're able to ask formerly. ok technically no a canines won't be in a position to stay to tell the story on meat on my own. Meat on my own would not supply each and all of the food that canines desire. To be wholesome canines desire 80% meat 10% bone and 5% organ, it may desire to be any incorrect way around with bone and organ. upload: LOL my concepts seems shutting down a touch too quickly. 80, 10, 10.

Be patient and wean him slowly... we inherited a senior dog once, and we HAD to feed her scraps with her food , because she was raised on scraps.. she was also 16 and we had no choice but to continue doing it.
You on the other hand have to become the boss, and your dog has to learn that.... try giving him a bit each day (try a wet meat dog food) and mix it in with the dry food... keep reducing it until he will eat all the kibble without any meat at all.
Best of luck

you are going to have to be patient it will take a while, start mixing dry food with the meat or try a meaty gravy train mix. you can't just totally switch the dogs diet or you can upset his digestive system, also call a vet to recommend a diet plan that will fit the dog. good luck

Mixing the food is the best way, when I was a kid in Greece my dog Lady was only feed table scraps and thats how we got her to switch habits, definately talk with your vet, they know whats best, when my current dog, also a smaller breed a pomeranian, wasn't eating her food the vet gave me a few recipies using actual people food that got her on track right away.

Part of the aggression is that he thinks he's the boss BECAUSE he eats what HE wants.
You will just have to make him go cold turkey. Offer him dog food. If he doesn't eat it, he gets nothing. He will eventually get the message.
THE DOG WILL NOT STARVE HIMSELF!! Once he realizes he is no longer "top dog" he will eat what is offered.
GOOD LUCK!!
