I'm a U.S. citizen traveling back home to the States after a visit in Canada. After the terrorist scares earlier this month, I know a lot of airlines have been telling people to make sure to arrive extra-early, so that there will be more time for security measures, I guess. Have you experienced this? How early should I arrive at the airport for a 9:05 flight?

Also, I know you aren't allowed liquids ... or lipstick, apparently. What else should I avoid?

You can bring on a tube of lipstick, but simply take your make-up bag out of your purse, including all lotions, hairspray, perfume, etc. and pack it into your checked luggage. To make sure nothing spills or leaks, pack your make-up bag and other items mentioned above and put them in a large zip-lock plastic bag before you tuck it in your checked luggage. You will have to dispose of drinks before going through security. You can purchase drinks again after security, but you will have to dispose of them before you board the plane.

You best bet is to contact the airline you're flying or check their website.
