I'm just wondering about this, as they often share the tracks in forests and such. I don't own a mountainbike but I do exploring a forest on my aluminium stallion. Do cyclists scare horses, do cyclists hate horsemuck.. What are the opiniosn between them?

I can only tell you from the perspective of a horse rider.
The individuals who ride inadequately schooled horses are likely to scowl at anyone 'upsetting' their horse and assume that, because the horse was a primary source of transport, they have the ultimate right of way.
I, however, would be more than happy to be joined by a chap on an aluminium stallion for a ride in the countryside. My horse won't spook, and neither will I!

Generally speaking mountain bikers and horse riders should have separate tracks, from a horse riding point of view bikes can cut up the track and make it harder to see rocks, etc.

Also a friend of mine and her horse were badly injured when an ignorant cyclist sped past shouting at her to get out of the way. Her horse bolted and ending up slipping over on the track throwing my friend into a wall and cutting her legs so badly that she had to spend 4 weeks in her stable whilst they healed.

I think if everyone just showed some common courtesy to each other we could all get along.

Riders should make a point of saying thank you to every cyclist that slows down or gets off their bike and cyclists should remember that horses are animals and therefore unpredictable.

As for the horsemuck, not a lot we can do about that I'm afraid! Try taking a clothes peg with you for your nose!

Of course they hate each other but it is simply because people love to complain about everything and we are so selfish that we dint like to share our space.
How many times do you hear people scream or start fights because some one rode their bikes too close to a pedestrian?
how many times do you see rollerbladers' and cyclists fight for sidewalk space?
How many times do you see people in parks get upset because some one walks their over sized dog near them?
I strongly believe if we would value each other more things like this would not be a problem.
for bikers... If you are going to go mountain biking in an area where the trails are mixed for people on horses YIELD! the same for the horse back riders and if you cant handle it go somewhere else specifically for what you want to do.

I always walk my bike past walkers or horses. A horse would win anyway.
