One of the biggest problems I have with Christianity is that it seems so exclusive. The religion seems to have such a bleak view of human nature...i.e. original sin...that all humans are inherantly evil. Do Christians really believe that all non Christians are destined for an eternity of torment, sorrow, or non existance? If so, no wonder you try so hard to convert everybody.

There are so many answers that I can't decide which one to choose as best. I usually like to pick one myself, but I think I'll put it to a vote.

The real problem is that you have not looked at Christianity from the correct viewpoint. In order to do that, you need to discuss it with someone knowledgeable and not just take bits and pieces.

First of all, we all sin, period. So what is your problem with that, it is the truth. No one is perfect and does not sin. Christianity teaches that because it is true and it reminds us to watch what we do. The idea is to be the best we can be as humans.

Second, we believe what the Bible teaches; that when you believe in Jesus Christ and God, you are a believer and will spend your afterlife in heaven.

Third, we don't "try so hard to covert everybody". Obviously, I would never try to witness to you since you have formed your own opinion without knowledge on the subject. Why would I waste my time? I only discuss my beliefs with people who are honestly seeking and haven't formed opinions based on bits and pieces or lies.

I believe that there is not a "defenition" of who gets into heaven and who doesn't. I believe that God looks at the intentions of our hearts. I have known many proclaimed Christians that have done and continue to do bad things and I know non-believers that are good and kind people. I don't think that just beause someone proclaims to be Christian that they automatically get into heaven and I don't believe that God would keep genuinely good people out. I honestly believe that it all comes down to the intentions of your heart. If you try to be a good person, not harm others and live your life without evil, I believe that you will go to heaven. I also don't believe that murderers or rapists or those who do other acts of violence will just be forgiven if they just say that they are sorry, it's not that easy. I believe that these people, to truely be forgiven, have to have so much guilt and sorrow and shame for what they have done that it would consume them and only then will they be forgiven. I think that those people who just try to do right and learn from their mistakes and live life in an honest, giving, and productive way will get to heaven.

Of course it is! I've seen many good answers, but you guys seem to be forgetting something... People existed long before Jesus was born, and died before the crucifiction. To say that no one but a Christian can get into heaven is to condemn to Hell all the good and faithful servants of God that lived before the crucifiction. And what about the little babies that die before ever having the opportunity to learn of Jesus? Shall we send them to Hell, too? Some Christian denominations believe that only babies that have been baptized will be saved, but does an act performed by others without the consent or understanding of the child "make" the baby a Christian, and therefore ensure salvation? What about the still borns who do not live long enough to be baptized. Surely they too have a soul. God knows our hearts, and it is He, not us, who will decide.

i assume so, i mean technically (and i am not trying to put down christianity or any other religion) humans made up heaven and so anyone can really go there. just because some christians say that only good christians can go to heaven, anyone can because they made heaven up.

also i dont think that christians believe that non christians are destined for an eternity of torment or sorrow. i will speak from a scary experience a couple of weeks ago. i am jewish and lets just say i am under 16, me and my friend whos my age had just gotten dropped off to downtown westport, ct to go shopping. a man in his 20s approached us with a woman in her 20s. he started asking us if we were going to go to heaven and if we had done sin in our life, we obliged and for a minute were talking to him. then we asked him to go away and he did not go away so we started walking away from him. he followed us asking if we had done evil things in our life and that if we joined into his christian religion we would for sure get into heaven. he continued following us but luckily as we started running away with him chasing us asking us to pray with him my friends mom pulled over the car and got out and told him to go away and he didnt. so my friends mom called the police.

so i think that christians do believe that anyone can get into heaven if we live good lives without hurting others even if we are not christian. and i do agree with you about the christians try very hard to convert others, not all do however some go very far.

Hell is for the devil and his angels / messengers. That would include any person who does the devils destructive work and doesn't accept Jesus Christ as Lord & Saviour.

The first ones in the Lake of Fire are the beast and false prophet. That is what Jesus Christ thinks of the false prophet. The false prophet leads people to destruction and prevent people from coming to Jesus and His Truth.

In Revelation 20 is revealed where the people go that will be raised up at the Great White Throne Judgment day. This is the second resurrection. The dead go where the dead rest or where they go in the sea or where they go in hell. They are raised up at the second resurrection and are judged according to their works (conscience and land laws, etc.). And those whose names are not found in the books of life will be thrown into the Lake of Fire, this is the second death.

The first resurrection are those that are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb and the second death has no power over them. These are the true Christians who have not denied Jesus Christ their Lord & Saviour and received the gift of eternal life upon heart faith in Him.

God has highly exalted Jesus with a name above all others. That at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, every tongue confess, "Jesus Christ is LORD.".

Yahweh Yeshua Messiah has all the authority. He has the keys to death & hell. He has the keys to eternal life. He purchased His own church by shedding His own blood for it. He cleanses His church by washing it in His Word & the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ is sure that some of the non Christians today will ultimately come to Him and get into heaven. He shed His own blood for the remission of sins for everyone. He is the one chosen at the foundation. All are chosen in Him. Everybody's names are written in the Lamb's book of life. Some names get blotted out (Those who deny Jesus before others.).

Babys, children who die before the age of accountability (decision to accept or reject God), go straight to heaven to be with the LORD. The True Light of Life has shined on every child conceived in this world (John 1). All these children in heaven is part of the Kingdom of Heaven.

Only God knows who's going to heaven or hell. A lot of us profess to know, but its simply not true. The bible tells us that Jesus will be our judge, and He will judge us by what's in our hearts. But yes, believing that not accepting Christ will lead to an eternity in hell is exactly why so many christians try so hard to convert everyone. While you may think these christians are annoying and controlling, they are governed by the desire to save your soul, doesn't do anything at all for them, it's you they're trying so hard to save.

YES Ice Demon!

Let me Explain.

I am A latter Day Saint-Most people call us Mormons but,
we are really christians hence the name... Church of JESUS
CHRIST of Latter Day Saints. : ) anyways.

In our faith we do not believe non-believers or non-christians
go to hell.

We bellieve that hell or what we call "outer darkness"
Is ONLY reserved for those who have commited igregious
crimes and have not felt sorrow, or have repented for t hem.
Such things as Murder,Rape, and Child Molestation.
Pretty much only the most Evil of of our Kind. People
that athiests would also call evil as well.

We believe most everyone goes to a degree of heaven.
We believe there are differnt degrees of heaven however...
and that those who are most faithful and good and kind
hearted go to the highest. But each is its own level
of Paradise or Peaceful afterllife whatever you call it.
Alot of people find us LDS to be weird but, we are christians
and we dont believe in the completele condemnation
of men who simply dont believe.

I believe the thought of fire and hell and torment to
a child who was never baptized to be incredibly evil
and sacreligous as well as any adult who simply never
believed it. That is NOT what Jesus taught at all although
they try and twist the words to make it sound like that.

Anyways I hope this has been informative for you and
has given you hope! You are not going to hell as long
as you remain a good person : ).

sorry but no it's not possible for a non christian to get to heaven because you have to accept Jesus first.

but Christianity is NOT exclusive even Jesus was criticized for preaching too much to drunks and fornicator etc and he simply offered them a better life

and the only torment for non believers will be the regret of not believing and making that choice to accept Jesus,

The Bible does teach that Christ is the only way of salvation (John 14:6). Because, in the view of the Bible (which of course, believers take to be the only view), all have sinned and stand guilty before God, the only way to escape paying the penalty of falling short of the glory of God, is to accept the work of a substitute, namely the death of Christ for all those who believe. I too found this hard to accept. The only comfort I came to have was the scriptural truth that all who would want to be saved, that would want to live forever in the enjoyment of God, are brought to the exclusive salvation of Christ. Nobody ends up in hell but those who want to live apart from God. So in a sense everybody gets what they want. Blessings.

This IS a problem for unbelievers. Most likely this is because we all have a "God - consciousness".:
Romans 1: 19-20 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

No it is not possible for non Christians (aka unbelievers) to get into heaven
. Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven."

Unfortunately all humans are born with a sin nature.

Yes Christians believe that non Christians are destined for an eternity apart from God, in hell.

This is not something that we desire, especially for our loved ones who are not believers. But since we believe that the bible is the Truth, that it is God Breathed and the Word of God we have no choice but to implore those who are non- believers to consider the eternal consequences of not following God, of not accepting Jesus' gift of salvation.

I hope you get a chance to read and study the bible for yourself, and I hope to see you in heaven one day :)
