That's a very interesting question. I'd never thought of it in those terms, but, yes - I think the bottom line would be money.

Illegal immigrants come to our country to work and make MONEY to send home to family. Although some of their wages may be recirculated here (if they're not on food stamps, housing assistance or other government aid), the bulk of it is taken out of America.

Businesses hire illegal immigrants to save MONEY by not contributing their share of FICA and - more than likely - paying less than they would to citizens because the money is paid "under the table".

Citizens are incensed that illegal immigrants are taking MONEY from them in many, many ways (collecting food, health, and housing benefits, free education, and and all the other percs our tax money pays for such as law protection, road maintenance, etc.). Because immigrants take from these sources and contribute nothing, citizens must carry the burden by paying higher taxes.

Agree

And here is the sad part, by having illegals do the dirty work, you can make them work longer hours for lower pay, not contribute to their social security (employers are required to pay 1/2 of the social security bill of their employess) and not follow safety rules, since employing them in the first place is illegal.

And sadder yet is that if many people are willing to accept employment under these conditions, they are lowering the wages of these not willing to accept these conditions.

People think that they are doing good by encouraging illegal immigration, but they are really hurting the immigrants and the U.S. as a whole.

It is about money. Money that is not obtaniable in the old country of the these illegals. That money is also making you a$$holes rich so why are you complaining.

The majority of illegals not are not criminals. They are hard working people who are willing to work harder due to the poverty and hardships they have expierenced in their old country. They are more likely and willing to work longer hours for a lower pay, but on the other hand most citizens are not willing to do that. They are not willing to sacrifice time with family and pain to feed their family. We must understand that the only thing these people want is a better future not for them but for their children. Thats why there busting there *** 40-60 hours or even more so their little children can go to school and become professianals such as docters so they dont have to kill themselves trying to support thier familys. And if doing what every single person in this country is so wrong then too bad. Every single person here is an illegal. All you people saying lets deport the hard working illegals because they are doing what our great grandparents did, trying to get a better life for their familys. I hope you understand that illegals are like you and me. Why must we persecute them like we persecute every black person, every person of muslim or middle eastern descent. WHY?? NOT EVERY BLACK PERSON IS A THIEF OR ON WELFARE NOT EVERY MUSLIM IS A TERRORIST NOT EVERY ILLEGAL IS A CRIMINAL!!! Why must all you people be so ignorant and such hypocrites? Why are we always preaching about Martin Luther King and other great leaders, like Tupac said its time we stop talking about them and start acting like them!

KEEP IN MIND A 13 year old wrote this
if a 13 year old can be a good loving important person than why cant all the "grownups" be.

Agree, is about money, is about money for those who can't make it, for the poorest and most unschooled layer of mexican population whose only good expectation as an "albañil" (construction worker) or "campesino" (land laborer) in Mexico are atrociously low, really challengingly low, according to US standards. The problem is that there are not a lot of chances for them in Mexico, because of their lack of education and preparation. I have to tell you, not all Mexicans want to live in the US, actually the majority, overwhelming majority of mexicans WILL NOT live on any other country that is not Mexico, and this is in all economic levels. those who cross the border do it on a last and desperate attempt. they are a big problem not only to the US but to Mexico as well. this has more difficulties than anybody can think of and its solution is not a simple one.
Mexico is a country in via of development and this has occurred really slow because of the subsequent crisis that Mexico has faced. ont lesson i bring out of history though, that today's circumstances will not be tomorrow's and that many nations have passed from power to oblivion, from poverty to greatness, many have formed and many have disolved. What is this gonna look like in say, another 100 years, who knows, but it well be very different, diametrically opposite as today, who knows. You think you can live that long and find out?
One thing is certain, you just can't dissapear Mexicans off the map, or pretend that they are not there. Mexico, my fiends is a nation ewith more than 100 million population, growing, and seems like its democracy is finally consolidating in the presence of internal threats. Fox could not have improved by itself all that the ruling PRI messed up in 70 years. i say let's give Calderon a chance and see what happens, this takes time and no radical solutions are gonna be of any help.

Yes. Money for big corporations and rich people get cheap gardeners and housekeepers. Those same low income illegal immigrants get welfare and subsidies which we the low and middle income Americans PAY FOR with OUR taxes. It's a rip-off for MOST Americans.

i think if they are here only as a seasonal worker they should at least pay taxes while they are here. it is not fare to the rest of us who are mostly low income or barely middle class and we have to carry the load for immigrants from other countries, plus the rich here who get more tax breaks then we do.yes it's mostly about money

About equally the greed of the big corporations and the intent of the mexicans to have a 're-conquista' of the border states. Check out some of their own web sites: La Voz etc.

Of course it is!!! GREEDY employers want "cheap" labor, so they can get rich, even though they are also BETRAYING their own country by doing so!!!!!! Politicians want "cheap" labor to "pay back" the businesses that PAID to get them elected!!! And, LAST the illegals are here because of thier GREED!!!! Studys have shown that it is NOT the "poor" people who are coming here to work!! It is the GREEDY,"WANT MORE" illegals!! But this "cheap" labor is NOT cheap for the American TAXPAYERS!!!!! We are the ones that have to PAY for that "cheap' labor!!!

If our country becomes overrun by aliens, and a few WILL BE terrorists, then money won't mean a thing. It's all about security and soverignty.
