I swear I have gone to the store 3 times in the past 2 days and have not been able to get any help! I was at the WM photo counter and had a question to ask, but the clerk, who obviosly seen me standing there, didn't even acknowledge me so I walked off! I walked into WM where you have pictures made (professionally) and wanted to make an appt, the photographer was with a customer and never even looked up, now I understand she was busy, but she could have said, hey I see you there and I'll be with you shortly and then I could have just asked for the phone number and made an appt via phone, but she didn't. I was at the grocery store and wanted to order a cake for my son's 1st birthday, I was looking through the book and waiting for the clerk to approach me after another clerk told her I what I needed, but you guessed it, I got NO help, so I left. Now I ask you, am I invisible?!

My guess is you look like you haven't decided what you want so they assume you're not ready yet. But don't despair, it happens to everyone sometime...
Next time, break out into interpretive dance and see if they notice ;)

Speak up to any rude salespeople you run into. I had to do it at Sears when I was a very young adult. I was the 1st to walk up to the service counter. Two employees were shuffling around here and there and didn't take care of me. Another was on the phone. She made eye contact with me, but never made a single gesture of acknowledgement. When she finally hung up, several other people (all older than I was) had arrived. The "phone" woman looked at an older woman and helped her. (And the customer allowed it--even though she knew I was there first!). When the "phone" woman did it again (to another older customer). I had to speak up and say, "You can help ME!" She snarked, "why, were you here first?" I answered, "You know that I was, and so do these customers who keep going ahead of me." I got waited on FINALLY.
After you do it a few times, it gets easier. And don't forget to file complaints against the people who don't do their jobs. If the bosses don't know about a problem, they can't fix it. And letters work wonders!!! They get a great response from the higher-ups.

I've noticed that many times it depends on what you are wearing and how your hair looks. But, also, I've noticed that (not rude) "request" for an eye contact (not under 1 sec.) and a kind smile works, no matter if the clerk is a man or a woman. The "request" is usually done with several boring questions.

I think it's like that almost every where you go,so many people in service industries who don't want too be there or in those jobs but they have them anyway.
and there isn't much of anything you can do about it.
except maybe in the case of a large retail chain you might just be able to make a complaint to some one in upper management but good luck if anything ever gets done about it, cause the management personnel don't want too be there either.
they should put on the bottom of the application for service positions - this job is not pleasant but you will be required to answer bad questions and too take complaints and to deal with unruly customers who will call you all kinds of derogatory names. please do not apply for this job if you can not or will not endure these types of situations.
no your not invisible it's just the way the service industry is!!

I don't think you are. It's just that you have to make more effort to be noticeable. It's the same with me that happen to me all the time but instead of walking out like you do i go and talk to the clerk busy or not. Then i see what he or she will tell me.That's what you should do sometimes you think they saw you but they didn't.
You are not invisible maybe those clerks are blind!...lol I'm joking well just one advice don't wait for them to come to you go to them.

Don't just stand there, you need to speak up. If you want something, go and get it, don't wait around thinking it'll come to you. And no, you are not invisible. I swear, I talked to people right in front me too, and we had eye contact! But they did not reply back to my question/comment/etc. I think I need to speak louder.
I know, it sucks that people don't pay attention sometimes. Don't take it personally though, their jobs probably suck. That's not a good reason to be rude but that's the way people are.
Happy birthday to your son!

yes. if that weren't typed i never would have known it was a person.
don't go to WM. their employees are all disgruntled and poorly treated. the only way to get attn there is by dropping a landmine (farting and walking a little ways off), still no decent service tho. go to target. happy employees, good cakes and photos. carry a banner tho cause you might still be invisible

This is getting to be a prob. in all our stores, just not enough help. If they would hire more people this would help this matter alot. then if you finally do find help, they are not in a good mood, and often rude, because they have too many other things to take care of.
