Someone cannot legally be forbidden based on sexual orientation.
The Constitution defines the requirements for holding the office. Congress cannot impose more discriminatory requirements.

Forbidden? No. Would that person win, not likely. America isn't ready for a woman president let alone a gay president. I really couldn't care either way. So long as they are doing a good job for the people. I'd vote for whoever I think is going to do the best job regardless of what their sex or orientation is.

It would most likely disqualify a gay man, but that shouldn't stop the gay man from trying.

It may have already happened. There were rumors that James Buchanan was gay, and had a relationship for 16 years with an Alabama senator.

A gay man should not be forbidden to run for presidency since everybody has the right to choose his or her gender preference. He or she will be exercising his or her right to it, thus being true to himself or herself. This is the essence of true and honest relationship with his or her subjects.
Many leaders had confessed and were suspected to be homosexuals but still they have become efficient in ruling their subordinates.

He may not be forbidden to run but I sure the hell hope he wouldn't be elected! It's bad enough we have a very evil female who is gonna run!
How can Trixa say you have a preference to your gender? Your born a female or male, but some people come out complete idiots. Funny you have a preference!

Pretty sure if he had invested all the effort to president material he would be very very in the closet.

Better question - what about a gay woman presidential candidate?
'Cause you're getting one of those next year.

Wouldn't be forbidden, and it would get a lot of press coverage, but he wouldn't win. He wouldn't get the votes.

WOW! I never thought of that! I don't think so though. I think that is when you are doing military training. If you are an elected official you don't necessarily have to have been in the military.
