What does this verse have to do with anointing? Please explain and maybe I can give a more direct answer.
Paul said that he considered everything else as refuse. He was a a Roman citizen, a Pharisee (a group of prominent religious leaders), trained at the feet of Gamaliel (a prominent lawyer at the time), and very rich and he considered it all as refuse (garbage) in comparison to what he got from following Christ. Philippians chapter 3

no gain,no pain, lose to gain life.
-more important we should fulfilled God plan for our life with the taylor made gifts & potentials in us. some are planned to be rich & be a blessing to others & on another end of the scale, die to be a blessing. we are all here to be a blessing to God, others & ourshelves. (that's why we all get the warm & fuzzy when you done a good deed for someone) however there is pain to have gain.
you find out His purpose for your life & live to the fullest possible. your purpose is different from peter the apostle. peace, lady
