A 66 Impala is a classic ride, with lots of potential in the custom market. If your car is in any condition at all I would think twice about trading it for a Miata.
The Miata was never manufactured in the 70's, and the value of an 80's model is pretty low. The Miata is a fun car and economical to operate, but it is unlikely that it will ever have any classic sentimental value like your Impala.
