So suppose I step on a scale and I weigh a certain weight. If I want to weigh 5 pounds heavier stepping on the scale again, how much water should I drink? In other words, how many fluid ounces of water should one drink to be a pound heavier?

Thank you, as this is especially helpful after running cross country practice!

Firstly, Double Your Salt Intake And then Drink 75 Fluid Oz. of water. If you Don't Want To Keep It On, Just Drink The Water In 6 Mins Or Less and Disregard The Salt.

Five pounds of water is actually very dangerous to drink, especially after running. Otherwise completely healthy marathon runners have been known to drop dead on the run, due to the fact that they are drinking too much water. The water dilutes the blood and upsets the chemical balance of the cells of your body, so don't do this to yourself.

Include some sodium and you will retain the water you consume. I just don't understand why, even with cross country practice you want to be heavier.

Water actually makes you thinner because it gets rid of the toxins in your body. Water is 0 calories and 3000 calories is a pound - you do the math.

A quart of water will probably add a pound (at least until you sweat it out). Salt tablets will help you retain water (so will eating pickles!)

It's actually not good to drink too much water. I heard it can flood your kidneys. Why do you want to weigh more anyway?
