Proper tire inflation pressure is the specified air pressure given by a carmaker for a certain tire on a specific vehicle. It is located on the drivers door jamb, or in the owners manual. This pressure specification should not be confused with a tire's maximum pressure, which is usually listed on the tire's sidewall. Some vehicles may specify different pressures for the front tires and the rear tires.

Purpose: Correct inflation pressure is critical for good fuel economy, safety, maximum tire life, and proper vehicle handling performance.

Cars come with a sticker on the drivers door that lists the air pressure for the car. If that is missing you can get the maximum air pressure from the sidewall of the tire. Check them when they are cold, ( driven for less than a mile).
It is better to be a bit high than a bit low. 32 is a good rule of thumb for passenger cars,

John Paul got it best.

You will bounce all over and possibly change lanes.
Do use the info. on the car lable.
Do use a reliable pressure gage.

Open the drivers door and there should be a tag with tire inflation information on it on the door jamb. If it is missing, refer to the owners manual. If that is missing call your local tire dealer.

There's supposed to be a sticker on the driver's side door panel (the narrow part when you open the door) that should tell you. If not, check your manual.

Depending on the model, it should be on a label on one of the door frames or the door itself. Some makers place the label in the glove box. All else fails it's in the owners guide in the glove box
