I am on Requip for the RLS, but doesn't seem to be doing much (only 1mg a day). Have no idea what to do for the nerve problems. I am losing so much sleep and am desperate for alternative help!

Though I don't know those particular conditions - I also live with never ending severe pain, and sleepless nights. Rarely do I get more than 3 or 4 hours AT THE MOST.
These are the things I try; sometimes something works, sometimes nothing.
1. Relaxation tapes
2. Keep a diary of how it all makes you feel.
3. Find a doctor who trusts you (not easy). It took me years to get any real pain meds for my condition. Just relieving pain makes a huge difference in how you feel. Tho pain meds are not a great solution- they will give you back quality of life - and that is what matters more than anything.
4. You can now buy really good heat wraps that last 8 or more hours and can wear under clothes, etc.
5. A drug called GABAPENTIN, used first for seizures, but docs are now using to help relieve nerve pain. It made me ill - but many people find it helps.
6. Sleep whenever you can day or night. I ended up getting satellite tv, with east coast coverage (3 hours ahead of me) so that I didn't sit up all nite alone and end up concentrating on the pain, rather than be distracted. I also nap whenever I feel tired. If you can't sleep at night - you need to get it whenever you can.
Good luck. I know the battle against pain and sleeplessness is a tough battle. I often say to people - why do you think they use pain and preventing sleep as torture??
Saying that is is used as torture, and that you no longer have any quality of life is what it seems to take before docs will take you as seriously as you need them to.
Vanni wishing you luck.

I was originally diagnosed with the same about six years ago and was put on Elavil. Only took it at night, and it did help me sleep. However, I now have a different diagnosis and want to discontinue it but not sure how. But it did help!
