i know how you stop those telemarketing calls, but how do you stop those automated from a machine. ex. "this is not a solicitaition call" . i get at least two everyday and the person they are looking for don't even live here. how do i stop these kind of calls? i don't think the "do not call registry" works for this.

Stay on the line, a live person or recorded number should follow. Call or speak to someone and simply request them to stop--it is against the law and your rights if you verbally say that "you request that they do not call any more, the person that they are looking for no longer lives at that particular number". You can actually sue if it continues. It may take a few tries 1-2, but it should stop soon after. It happened to me and after the 2nd time the calls stopped.Let them know you will report it if it continues and that they can be sued (in a nice tone) yelling only lets them know you are not serious. Try it--it works!

Most phone companies offer something like no solication, security screen and/or call acceptance ( allows calls from certain numbers only) If you registered you number on the do not call list and still have problems you can go to their website and put in a complaint. If nothing works out probably would be best to have a nonpublished number and/or change your number...

it happen to me too. while i dont speak Spanish or russian. but i got all the caller speak russian, Spanish.

the reason u get all call from some one who looking for some people name the dont live in ur home.

1_ ur number is some one old phone number.
2_some 1 put ur phone number on the ad by mistake.

so even u register to do not call is use less.

To fix the problem
1_call ur phone company to get a new fresh number
2_keep answer the phone ( no 1 name XX live here )

try pushing 1 or 0 to speak to a representative, if and when you get through tell them to take you off their call list. If not then call you phone company and tell them to block it. A friend of mine has a special block on her phone where you have to press 1# to get through unless you're a telemarketer, if you are a telemarketer and you do so you will be prosecuted!
