Polygamy was acceptable and part of the Mormon church doctrines during the original founding of the church. Many Mormon settlers who migrated were looked down upon for having practiced polygamy. After laws were enacted against polygamy many Mormons rejected the law and continued to practice it. The Mormons are not the only ones to practice polygamy today. Many women find it very accommodating. A recent interview with a woman living in a polygamous household showed three of the six women desired to stay home, cook, clean, and raise children while the other three had careers. The woman said it was wonderful to come home from work to a hot dinner and have all the laundry done plus the increase in income afforded the family to live luxurious lives not ordinarily achievable in monogamous relationships. The problem with people like Warren Jeffs, David Koresh, Jim Jones and others is that by nature they are perverted and will take advantage of any situation in order to satisfy their selfish needs. The issue of whether polygamy is good or bad is highly debatable and is primarily a moral issue preyed upon by religious groups who also have their own parasites.

Here is a little history: Firstly, Mormons or those of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, have not practiced polygamy since 1890. Warren Jeffs is not nor ever was associated with THE Mormon Church. He took certain ideologies from our beliefs and applied them, however polygamy is not one of our ideologies we practice. The leadership of the Mormon Church has been very vocal since 1890, that polygamy is illegal, and any member found practicing it will be excommunicated. They have been very outspoken on this issue and in no way support it. You can only beat a dead horse so many times. You really must get more up-to-date on your religious history.

We have, and do speak out. We are not sympathizers. For years & years, when asked, the members of the 'mormon' faith have said that we don't practice polygomy or condone it in any way, but people just don't listen or get it. Recently (8 years ago) our church president gave a statement about this very thing...
~In 1998 President Gordon B. Hinckley (current President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) made the following statement about the Church's position on plural marriage:
"This Church has nothing whatever to do with those practicing polygamy. They are not members of this Church. . . . If any of our members are found to be practicing plural marriage, they are excommunicated, the most serious penalty the Church can impose. Not only are those so involved in direct violation of the civil law, they are in violation of the law of this Church."
At various times, the Lord has commanded His people to practice plural marriage. For example, He gave this command to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, and Solomon.
In this dispensation, the Lord commanded some of the early Saints to practice plural marriage. The Prophet Joseph Smith and those closest to him, including Brigham Young and Heber C. Kimball, were challenged by this command, but they obeyed it. Church leaders regulated the practice. Those entering into it had to be authorized to do so, and the marriages had to be performed through the sealing power of the priesthood. In 1890, President Wilford Woodruff received a revelation that the leaders of the Church should cease teaching the practice of plural marriage."

No, I believe the mormons are ashamed of being the ones who started all the polygamous nonsense and just choose to stay quiet out of guilty conscience. If it weren't for the original LDS church members, the fundamentalist mormon cults that exist today would not be such a problem.

shall we face some data. that's a criminal offense. The church gave up on the prepare for sensible motives besides as religious motives. the u . s . would not provide Utah statehood even as Polygamy changed into practiced. BTW the church wanted Utah to be referred to as Deseret. Naming the state Utah fairly turned right into a large FU to the church. shall we face some more beneficial data The prepare changed into partly a reaction to the great numbers of widows that were in the church on the time from each and each of the migrations, and killings. It changed into partly to provide those widows an excellent existence. yet shall we face it the prepare changed into abused then, as a lot because that's abused by using offshoot church homes immediately. We as a church have grown and advanced. immediately a mainstream Mormon must recognize of the central that it must be back practiced in the destiny, if our prophet ever has the revelation to initiate it back, yet we do recognize that it is not in the playing cards for us any time quickly. Nor ought to maximum human beings like it to be. As many converts to the church as there is immediately vs. those who grew up in the religion. there are one of those that've grown up with more beneficial mainstream traditions, and then made the alternative to rework to Mormonism. i ought to wager that the historic incontrovertible reality that the church used to coach Polygamy, is only a curious historic word to maximum of them. A reason to have a short tease on the spouse often times. keep in concepts....No guy can serve 2 masters ;)
