I think it's to control people who will believe anything they are told as long as someone reading from a big book tells them it.

It's funny how so many people just "believe" blindly. Or if you back them in a corner they will say that they have had things happen in their lives to convince them. So....I guess they only have good things happen? I've had great things happen and I've had the bad too - none of it was because of a god......it was either of my own doing or just plain luck or bad luck!

When one of your loved one passes away, and you are trying desperately to bring them back, and with all the new technology that we have you still can do that and will never be able to, then you will believe that their is a higher power somewhere, it does not have to be called God, but it sure is something bigger than you.
Matter of fact you don't have to believe in a big book, or what people say, or else you would be called a muslim, but commonsense should tell you that we were created for a reason, or else we could have been created animals, it wouldn't make any difference

B'cs. in it's pages we find:
Forgiveness,
God's Love,
A sure hope,
Purity,
Direction for life,

if God wanted to control everyone he wouldn't of bothered giving you and i will power which gives us freedom of choice.
and believe me when i say only anaive person would believe everything that they hear that is why the BIble or ''bigbook'' say you should read it yourself and choose if you believe it.
everything in the bible and about God is a choice
oh and control freaks never give people choices
