While trying to do something that would increase the size print on things I need printed, my computer went through a series of automatic restarts, after which I noticed my Quick Launch bar was gone. In trying to retrieve it, I have seen error messages saying I can't create the toolbar and something about a file that doesn't exist. I also noticed ALL of my Outlook inbox messages have disappeared. I never delete them, I just let them keep piling up.

You usually can restore Quick Launch by right clicking on the toolbar at the bottom of your desktop screen, then click Toolbars, then check mark Quick Launch. When your computer rebooted, it probably reverted to the default mode which does not include Quick Launch. However, if you've already tried this and are getting an error message, you may have a corrupted file and may have to reinstall your operating system. With Win98, you usually can restore a missing or corrupted file simply by reinstalling Win98 over the existing version, without losing anything already there. Sorry I cannot help with your Outlook problem.

if you get error Can't Create Toolbar Error Message

create a new folder under
C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\

Just click on that folder in a Windows Explorer window, pull down the File menu of Windows Explorer, select New, and then New folder. Rename the New Folder to Quick Launch.

If your computer is shared by multiple Users, then the Quick Launch folder should be made a subfolder of this:

C:\Windows\Profiles\[profile name]\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

the outlook i can't help you with, but the quick launch - right click on the start bar some place(empty space) - click properties, on the task bar tab there should be a quick launch check box - check it, and hit ok
