Spyware Blaster has been highly recommended to me. It doesn't fix existing infections, but once you're clean it works in the background to prevent infections. It seems to work ok, all I can say is that we've not had any spyware problems since using it!

For the free version you have to remember to check for updates manually - getting it to update automatically costs US $9.95 per year

I'll add another vote for Ad-Aware, it's helped me sort out a lot of infections in the past.

Spyware doctor is a lot of crap - when you get rid of it remember it leaves a lot of crap in the reg.

you need to run one program - counterspy.

it's free for a limited time & will totally clean your computer.

If it does not then you need to turn off system restore and run counterspy again.

when computer is clean download the following:

1. yahoo tool bar with anti-spy
2 Ad-Aware (free or pro)
3 Zonealarm firewall (Free)
