I am 15, 5'2.6(159 cm) with a 5'1.8 (157 cm) armspan. I read somewhere that children's heights are 1 cm more than their armspan, and teens have the same for both. Adults are the opposite of children. Does this mean I'm still in the "child" for height growth? People say that you can only get as tall as your armspan, and I have read upon lots of accounts that have 5'6 people with 5'10 armspans. I have yet to hear from someone with similar problems as mine! Anyways, my height predictions have been steadily climbing over the years. When I was 8, my height prediction( based on my height at the time) was 4'11, and then it went to 5', 5'1, 5'1.6, 5'2.4, 5'2.6', 5'3, and 5'3.6.Height predictions from the time I was 2 indicated I was going to be 5'5, and from averages based on my grandparents height, I'd be 5'5.5. I have short parents though; my dad had malnutrition, and my mom expressed her shorter genes. The rest of her family is tall. Is my theory correct? Height prediction?

Arm spans are not accurate predictors of growth patterns, especially for females. It's in our genes to be smaller than the male to begin with. You have to remember that our shoulders fit into that equation and face it, women have smaller bone structure and smaller shoulders.

Take a deep breath and relax, you are only 15 and have at least another year or two to grow. 5'2.6" is a very good height for a girl. Some guys think it's sexy because they look big, strong and manly next to a girl that size.

Take care, eat healthy, and good luck.

armspan measurements are not accurate means of predicting height. just relax and let your body grow as it will and eventually you will reach your mature adult height. and as for your parents height being a predictor it does have alot of bearing on how tall you will be but as you said your father suffered malnutrition so there is no knowing how tall he might have been either. different kids finish growing at different times too at age 15 you are proabaly within a few inches of your total height depending how early or late you reached puberty.

First, don't worry about your height, it will end up being one thing or another and has nothing to do with who you are or what you are capable of. Secondly, ratios like the one you are talking about are just used for rule of thumb projections. Some people are built like orangutans, others with short extremities. Your ratios may or may not be appropriate.

Stop worring so much!! Drink more milk so that as you continue to grow your bones will be strong. You didn't say how old you are now or your gender, so it is hard to make a prediction. I am sure you are normal!
