I have an interest in the wiccan craft, and would like to know how to find a knowledgable, female white witch that would be willing to mentor me that lives within a reasonable distance to my home. I study the books, but would like to have contact with live people.

For a start I would recommend learning a little more about Wicca and Witchcraft – Wicca is oath-bound yet millions of people claim to be Wicca, without research into how Wicca is defined it is impossible to find someone who is Wicca within the number of people who falsely claim the title.

A lot of Wicca are weary of revealing their traditions, even more so about revealing their lineage, but if someone is offering to mentor you in order to help you learn about Wicca or help take you into a coven to become Wicca yourself then they should have no problem at all telling you their lineage and proving this to you – if they are not willing to do this then chances are they are not honest or knowledgeable.

A small tip;
There is no such thing as a white witch, the same as there is no such thing as white magic, white wind, white love, or anything else, magic is not tangible like that, it's not how it works and it may suggest to some that you need to further your research before they are willing to take you under your wing. I do say this out of experience both when I was a Seeker and when I taught for my coven, I personally would not have offered to teach someone who referred to Wicca as 'white witch' and would actually be dubious of someone calling Wicca 'witches' as witchcraft can be practiced by so many people and is only a small part of what Wicca is as a whole. Some people may not be quite so edgy but just a warning that Wicca can be rather elusive and small things like this can have an effect on the outcome of a meeting/greeting with Wicca due to the current problems within the community.

As has been stated already - http://www.witchvox.com – this is the place to go, it has personal listings with contacts and covens locally, you may find a teacher or a coven willing to teach you straight from the site, alternatively you may find pen pals or local moots/meetings that could help you get closer to finding a teacher. In all fairness it is good to have local pagan contacts to begin with, that way they can give you a heads up if anyone you talk to about training is 'iffy' and best avoided or can point you in the direction of a good teacher.

There are loads of pagan forums online, not all fantastic however they are a good starting point too, if nothing else it gives you some contact and guidance in your studies, I strongly recommend Amber & Jet - http://amberandjet.spiralpaths.org – I will suggest you watch for a while before posting as this is by large Wicca (i.e. sometimes not too keen on the fluffy or Neo-wicca), just make sure you word things carefully if asking for help, but until you ask they are a great source of information just through watching discussions.

http://www.witchvox.com for starters.

But you may want to reconsider how you word it. Asking to find a Wiccan that will mentor you is one thing, and you are likely to find someone who may be open to taking on a student. Asking to find an "authentic honest practicing female white witch" has an increased chance of getting you dismissed as "fluffy" (i.e. not really knowing what you're talking about).

There are also many online communities that you may want to consider joining in order to get some more personal interaction with others.

Take a look in your local area and see if there are any Wiccan groups that hold open Sabbat circles (some do) that you may be able to attend.

Look at http://www.paganpride.org and see if there is a Pagan Pride Day in your area that you can go to and meet others.

I'd look for a local pagan bookstore and ask around there; most major cities have at least one. If that's not an option, I'd check out internet sites of Wiccan contacts (many high priests/priestesses have contact info around), find someone reasonably close, and ask for recommendations.

I think you posted this in the wrong section. You should try re-posting in the "I'm a retard" section. Seriously though, I think there's one in the Wizard of Oz. I'm not sure how close you live to Oz though. If you live in Kansas, like I do, you might be within reasonable distance. Ole Glenda seems nice enough. I'm sure she'd be happy to teach you the ways of the fairies and magic dust and whatnot. Hope this helps!

Why would you want to go in this direction? Your life is here for a purpose that God has planned for you. Pagan religious, are just that, pagan. Why? Read "A Purpose Driven Life" and ask God to direct you in the right path. You only have one life here to live, live it the best you can. Make a difference. May God Help You.

There isnt none, you may find them at the local orgy having the usual group sex and passing it off as a "spiritual thing" but nothing that is flesh is spirit, failing that just keep watching buffy and delude yourself further
