That depends on where you are. Most states in the South, like Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, and maybe Kentucky don't allow businesses and/or restaurants to sell alcoholic beverages on Sunday because of laws that have been on the books for over a century. Those laws were written by people of a Christian culture who believed alcohol was evil and should never be consumed, but at the very least they wanted the sale of alcohol prohibited on the "holy" day of Sunday. However, the vast majority of states in the U.S. allow you to buy alcoholic beverages on Sunday, but they usually have a law that says you can't buy them before noon.

Is your question "Why can't people buy alcoholic beverages on Sunday?" If so they are called blue laws and they depend on the state/country you live in. If you're asking "What people can't drink alcoholic beverages in Sunday school?" I think the answer is pretty obvious.

Well maybe because our country is still based on upon Christianity and so with that said Sunday is a day of observance in addition to the fact that due to the fact that most religions utilize this day to conduct worship as well, thus the use of alcohol is reduced and business decided to close for rest as well as this law is used to moderate the amount of drinking and purchasing of alcohol so that it won't get out of control!

Liquor stores are closed on Sundays in Tennessee, I think everywhere in the US. You can buy beer though. Restaurants serve alcohol on Sundays, some not till after noon.

Because people feel like Sunday is the Lords Day. Its a flagrant violatation of the Separation of Church and State.
