I think that the point of letting poor Humpty fall off the wall was to symbolize that some things in life are so fragile that once broken...they can't be put back together and all you'll be left with are the pieces of what used to be.
Remember that all the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't put Humpty back together again.
The usage of an egg as a symbol for the fragile state of life was clever.
Damn, I never thought that deeply about that before. I am so glad that I didn't have to think like that as a child because there's no telling what I would have made of Jack & Jill.

This child's nursery rhyme actually commemorates an event in history (which you can probably get the details of by googling "humpty dumpty cannon"). Humpty Dumpty was a large cannon which was placed on castle wall, unfortunately too close to the edge and it fell to the ground and broke. Despite their best efforts, all the king's horses (the cavalry) and all the king's men (the infantry) were unable to repair the great cannon.

Unfortunately Humpty was a drug abuser and that was the main reason he fell off the wall. He'd just loaded his pipe with crack and was away to fill his eggy lungs when he dropped his lighter. He fell while reaching for his light...but that's not what broke his shell. Jack and Jill had just came down the hill after visiting Little Bo Peep for some smack, but she didn't have any and then they saw Humpty rolling about on the ground giggling like a nob and decided to give him a beating and steal his gear. He was the victim of a vicious beating for his dope.

Parents might say that Humpty shouldn't have been playing on the wall.
or
You can't balance an egg on a flat surface.
or
A wind blew him over.
or
The King's evil viseur had Humpty thrown off the wall in order to expose the deficiencies and ineptitude of the King's Horses and Men in order to then cause caos in the land in which he would overthrow the King and become the absolute ruler.
Duh!

as with a lot of old nursery rhymes they are actually covert political satire ( honestly ) baa baa black sheep was protest against the wool export tax imposed in Britain in 1275.. ring a ring a rosies is about the rings of "buboes" or sores under your arms that were the first sign of bubonic plague.. the atishoo atishoo we all fall down being the final stages of the plague and death..
it is believed that Humpty Dumpty, was original was King Richard III and the fall was a metaphorical fall from power

To show that not all problems can be solved. The whole point of that was to let you know that even though everyone might jump in to help out, there are still some things that can't be put back together again.
