I am assuming that this is playbiting. If so, yelp and freeze when he bites you. When he lets go, pause a few seconds, then praise him or return to playing with him. If he is riled up and you have to correct him a few times in a row, get up and walk away from him or put him in another room for one minute. This will teach him that biting causes fun time to end.

If your pup is biting aggressively (growling, snarling, staring you in the eyes while biting), PLEASE get the help or a trainer right away. This is not normal puppy behavior and must be dealt with before he becomes a big problem.

Please do not hit your pup, especially for playbiting. This is a normal behavior and he doesn't know any better yet. There are so many more ways to handle this than through physical methods that can break down your pup's trust in you.

Closely watch your puppy. Puppies chew on whatever they can get their mouths on - for many reasons. Mainly, they are curious - and like human babies, this is how they explore and learn about their world. They also chew because they are teething or because they are bored.

Make sure you provide plenty of chew toys. Give him a variety of toys to choose from so that when he chews on a forbidden object you can say "NO!" with a firm matter-of-fact voice and give him a toy. When he chews on his toys, praise him. If he continues to chew on… say… your favorite pair of leather shoes, treat it with a bitter tasting product.

Tempt him. After you have taught him what he can chew and what he can't chew, it is time to put him to the test. Place tempting no-no 's near his okay-to-chew toys. Pretend you are not watching him. When he begins to put a forbidden object in his mouth, tell him "no" in your firm voice. You then need to leave the room, but watch him from around the corner. If you see him put the forbidden object in his mouth again, quickly correct him. Offer him his toy and if he accepts it, praise him and tell him "go get your toy, good boy/girl." Later that will translate into another form of communication with your pet: Saying "go get your toy" when it is playtime will tell him to retrieve his toy and bring it to you, or at least into your vicinity.

I wrap my hand around his nose and slap my wrist. It's an indirect slap.

I bought my pup a month ago. He's 4 months old now. With this technique, he's not biting often anymore.

always have something around the house for him to chew on if you buy your dog some bones to chew on they will strengthen their teeth and when he tries to bite skin it will be soft and he will realize that he is not supposed to bite. Is it playfull biting or is it like mean biting? my dog chews some when he is teething so I always make sure that he has something fun to chew on. Good Luck

never take advice form anyone who says to hit, grab, or be any form of violent with your dog. there is a product called apple bitter. it tastes very bitter and you spray it in the mouth right as they are acting incorrectly, while giving the "no" command. this teaches them the association with "no" and a very bad taste. if you hit, grab, or hold the mouth or any body part, they will fight back. do not teach your dog to fight you.

try pushing pup away say no sternly and then ignore pup when pup comes back if its gentle play with pup, if pup comes back and bites again push it away and say no again the pup will soon learn that if it starts to bite you wont play.you should make everyone else who plays with pup do the same it will soon learn.
