I usually prescribe naproxen to my patients and that seems to be enough. If not I prescribe ketorolac, but I've never had to prescribe a narcotic painkiller.

I think that vicodin would be more than sufficient. Percocet makes me woozy and unable to function. I only had to take painkillers for a day and a half after each round of extractions (had 2 out at a time) and then I used ibuprofen or tylenol to handle the discomfort. There's a little pain but mostly it's just tiring and gross.

I rarely prescribe Percocet, because most people say that it made them so sick that they couldn't take. Vicodin seems to be a lot easier on the stomach, so I prescribe that in sufficient strength ang it seems to do very well.
If you can start Advil PRIOR to your surgery, you might find that you can stick with just Advil afterwards and you will do just fine. Try that and save the Vicodin for bedtime.

Percocet is considered more addictive being a schedule II drug. Vicodin is a schedule III drug. It depends on you what one works better. Just because a drug is higher schedule does not mean it will be better - you may not tolerate it.

They are pretty much the same when there is dental work, I prefer vicodin but foe me that is the one that owrks for me. Also my gramms taught me to take a we tea bag and put it in the sit and it also helps releave the pain

Hi,
I never had any luck with either one of them.
Try using a strong Ibuprofen if you can, No side effects.
I hope it helps.
