anyone out there know of anyone who has this condition. How old are they. (my son is 11 and is the youngest known in Australia - not something to be famous for!!) Has there been any recurrance after removal??

Unfortunately, they do sometimes recur after removal. If they are on the skin, after removal, you can try radiation therapy to keep them from coming back. For multiple lesions or disease in the abdomen/lungs, chemotherapy with imatinib (Gleevec) has been shown to be effective (but not super great).

Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans

A rare but benign skin tumour. Recurrence rate up to about 50% sometimes.
