I love this question.....because we are all hypocrites....it is just a matter of degree

There is not one person i have met in my lifetime that perfectly adheres to their belief system.......whether that be a Christian, muslim, or humanist

It actually speak to the christian message that we are in need of forgiveness

Christian should aspire to a life of progressive holiness....but it is about progress not perfection

Most folks we talk about hypocrisy are looking for an easy way to dismiss the message.

It gives them an easy way to do it to find people who are living below what they profess. The conclusion is illogical because we are all imperfect beings, trying to find a way out of this imperfection and hurt

Such people will usually rant on and on about the harm done by supposed " religious ' types......funny I never see reference to all evil done in the world by non believers....there must be some somewhere...no ?

Just a fair playing ground is all...

It is interesting u should ask that. I myself am a christian and struggled with all the hypocrites at my school for quite sometime it made me struggle wit my own relationship with God. But I knew everyon can be at times. I knew all along I was guilty of being hypocritical at one point or another also. But after pushing away from God for about two years because of all the fakeness at my Christian School. It came to me as clear as anything, I decided to worry about my self. And my own relationship with God. Why would I hurt my own relationship with God just so I could worry about other people who were having their own stuggles. So i did. And I will tell you this once I got closer to God I had the wisdom and the forever reaching love to love those that I had formerly been so disaproving of.

Some are, some arent. Some expect to be loved and will tell you not to judge others, but then run around saying gays are going to burn in "hell" or that I'm going to "hell" because I'm an athiest.

Others truely believe that you shouldn't judge others, and that it is their god's right to judge, not man's right, and they are good religious people.

The sad thing is, the good religious people don't make it onto the news. It's the ones standing on the street corner screaming at traffic that make the news.

Or the crazy woman like that chick on wife swap.

Yes they are! Jesus told his disciples to watch out for these people. It's really sad because these are the kind of people who turn people away from serving God. These people do not have a relationship with the living God. It's all for show.

The leaven of the Pharisees is hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is an acting as a stage player, feigning, pretending and the taking up of “another's statements in reference to what one has decided for one's self”. Jesus Christ calls the Pharisees pretenders when they sought a sign from Him, though He preached daily. (Matt 16:3-4; Mark 8:11-12,15; Luke 11;12:1) Jesus Christ plainly identifies their leaven as "hypocrisy" or "hupokrisis" <5272> in Luke 12:1. Traits associated with hypocrisy includes lying, guile, defamation, malice and envy.

Godspeed!

Not necessarily. There are rational religious scholars/worshippers out there that understand the role of religion as an emotional crutch. When they don't need it anymore, they put it away and don't try to live their lives according to any strict set of rules. The ones that do rarely practice what they preach.

Because somewhere along the line we Imperfect human beings decided we really know God. Because we have been blessed and have fomed a spiritual relationship with him, we started thinking we Imperfect humans could actually grasp what goes on in his head. And this is where OUR Judgements and issues come into play. We start trying to think for God and tell people what he likes and doesnt like!

The truth of the matter is that when someone professes to be religious, they are really trying or at least want to please God.

The best example is for me to prove my point is the last dialogue in the Diner from Pulp Fiction.

It's a never ending battle to be good.

religious people top priority is comforming by the book, the law, the rules. they impose it on others but being as imprefect as anyone of us we see through it. (hypocritcal).

True christian are not religious, we are relational just as our God is relational with 3 entities of the Trinity. Our relationship with a personal God make it fulfilling & we become more loving like him who love all his creations especially mankind. Jesus set christian His follower the love that may cost even one's life for another.

Oh definitely.

Ex: When I say that all gods are the same gods... they preach to me "God said that he is the one, and no other gods shall come before him" and that is to be taken in context.

but when the bible says things about how Israelis kept slaves, they say "that is old, and outdated, and we dont have to take that in context."

Another EX: Chrsitians will say that God created the world, and everything in it. But everytime something bad happens it is the work of Satan, yet in the bible it says that God is SOVERIGN! Meaning he is in control of everything, even that which does not please him. Therefore Katrina was not the work of the devil, but the work of thier all passionate, all loving god.

I don't believe most Christians are hypocritical. They stick
to what they believe no matter what "others" are saying or
names we are called. It doesn't matter. The Truth is still
the Truth. The Bible is still the Maker's handbook for us as
He made us and He knows how we should live if we want
to belong to Him and be blessed in this life and "saved"
for eternity at the point of death.
