Like, what is the difference between regular, light, ultra light? What is different about Marlboro blend 27?

I work in a convienence store, and get asked all the time, but I'm not a smoker. The only differences I do know are menthol/non menthol and shorts/kings/72/100/120.

Thanks for all the answers.

I also believe that cigarettes are bad for your health and will kill you; unfortunately, I can't tell my customers that. I instead have to market the product. Oh well, it's only until college is over. LOL.

The difference between lights, ultras etc, is the amount of tar and nicotine in the cigarette, lighter cigs will always have less of these making them not much but a little less detrimental to a persons health. They also don't taste as strong unless you are used to them you probably wil lfeel like you are smoking air!

I don't smoke either, but you might want to refer your customers to this helpful article in today's Washington Post:

"Nicotine Up Sharply In Many Cigarettes
Some Brands More Than 30% Stronger

By David Brown
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, August 31, 2006; Page A01

"The amount of nicotine in most cigarettes rose an average of almost 10 percent from 1998 to 2004, with brands most popular with young people and minorities registering the biggest increases and highest nicotine content, according to a new study.

"Nicotine is highly addictive, and while no one has studied the effect of the increases on smokers, the higher levels theoretically could make new smokers more easily addicted and make it harder for established smokers to quit. . . ."

Apparently manufacturers can't call their cigarettes "light" or less harmful anymore; but smokers might want to pay attention to nicotine levels.

There is some difference in the tobacco blends that makes different tastes, however all tobacco products are like a smoking death sentence for most people.
Tobacco causes or contributes to many deaths every year.

The tobacco is pretty much all the same. Light and Ultra lites have a different filter, allowing less tar and nicotine to pass through.

not much they are all bad for you. Last night they were talking on the American Network that cigarette companies have increased the nicotine in the cigarettes so that it is harder to quit. In popular brands like marbol, kools, and others.

sorry I quit when cigarettes went to 50 cents a pack the price was enough to help me say no.

It depends on a number of factors including the type of tobacco used which has varying strength. and also some ciggarettes have perforated holes on the butt which reduces the amount of smoke inhaled

full flav's have more tar and nicotene in them, lights have less, and ultra has even less. it is basically just a variation in the strength of a cig. however, i dont think there is that much difference, the real difference comes from generics-to brand names. but, they all are BAD for you
