while i agree that there are fundamentalists in every religion, islam is the worst. its very hard to come across a moderate muslim who is not a fundamentalist.
I wonder what purpose fundamentalism is going to serve, and where its all going to end?

Do not blame the religion for the traits of the culture. Any culture, including Western society, which believes that they are superior to everyone else can cause a great deal of harm.
In a highly patriarchal society, which truly believes in the superiority of males over females, the interpretation of religious precepts takes on a whole different flavor. There are Christians, Hebrews and others who have similar beliefs. I also know of many Muslims who are not twisted into fundamentalism.
Generally speaking, these people (the highly conservative) are in a no win situation as the world will change whether they want it to or not. Trying to push back the "clock" will not work.
Some cultures will withstand the changes which will happen in the near future. Some will be modified in order to stay "alive." Some will "die" or come to an end.
Humans, as individuals or groups, have the ability to adapt. Those who cannot will be left behind in their own little hell holes. You should be just as worried about the Western culture and its "worship" of the "almighty dollar."

What exactly do you mean by Fundamentalists? Fundamentals as far as I know are basics of a religion,if you don't follow the basics of anything let alone religion you are not following that thing at all. Yes Muslims follow the fundamentals they don't make changes in their religion according to their will. The problem is not in following the fundamentals the problem is some people using the name of religion to achieve their own gains and giving that religion a bad name, for example Bush claims to be on a crusade on behalf of the Christians but we all know its his own lust for oil power & yet he calls it a Christian crusade. Like he does not represent Christians so don't those who distort Islam according to their will represent Islam. And no where does Islam say that non muslims should be killed please don't spread wrong information "ZERO'. If this was the case Millions of Christians living in the Middle East (Lebnon, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Palestine etc.) wouldn't be alive today!

Even if you firmly believe that Islam is wrong , please don't mention it . You will hurt sentiments of people and it won't make you a better person . Before you jump to conclusion, let me tell you that I am not a muslim and I don't even follow Islam. But I have a few muslim friends who follow Islam but they are not fundamentalist or head strong or blah-blah-blah.
The only people who fight in the name of religion (any religion or all the religions on earth) are the one who have never studied or understood their religion . No religion will teach you to kill other or have no empathy for others . Its the bad politics of not one nation but the entire world which keeps on misguiding the ignorant in the
name of religion .
Nevertheless , this world is a beautiful place and we all still live in harmony because we follow our religions truly which does not teaches to think in black or white but also takes into consideration different shades of grey .

Fundamentalism is no more than holding fast to the teachings of a particular religion. It is not fundamentalism that is the problem, it is the nature of the religion itself. Any religion that teaches the destruction of anyone outside of that religion is dark and dangerous.
