Yeah I do even if they are in the 1st grade and 6th grade already; they still listen to my stories... especially Bible stories, they learn a lot from those stories!

I agree children learn at a faster pace when reading is practiced in the home as well as school. I began reading to my oldest son when he was a toddler. Now he is in 5th grade reading at an 8th graders level. I continue to read to my two younger children, 4 and 3. And my oldest son will sit down with me at night and read with me for at least an hour a night. He chooses his own books now and he also chooses to read instead of playin video games.

It is a wonderful chance to spend QUALITY time with your children.

I do , but not as much as i thought i would before we had children. It seems time has a way of slipping away everyday and then it's to late and we can only fit in a few minutes. But i really do attempt to have them read to me daily. And we are constantly reading all the media around us. It's all a learning experience.

I don't have children, but I read to any children I see almost every time I see them, particularly my nieces. They love it and any reading you can do increases literacy skills. Choose books that interest kids and you'll have them bringing books to you to read! They'll usually want to read a book or two all the time. My favorites were "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" and "Green Eggs and Ham" by Dr. Seuss. My friend's daughter's is an alphabet book. My older neice's is anything with the Disney Princesses.

Yes, kids learn best when they are shown how. Besides its a great time to spend with them and show them the joys of reading. I have read to my son since he was newborn.. Now, in first grade he reads at a third grade level.

i dont have children yet,but i will definitely read to my preschool children.
Books and stories with morals enhance the soul and promote learning in our younglings.
It can fascinate them with interest and imaginations beyond reality.
It is also like planting a seed of interest for them to grow into.
However,it is always best to choose carefully the materials to read to them, perhaps avoiding certain issues until they are ready .Other than that , it is always a good habit to read to them and it promotes a close connection between children and parents.=)
