Christians will tell you that is old and is direguarded now.
Others will tell you that all of the bible is god's word and should be listened to.
I will tell you that this is why the bible is a load of BS!
Throw it away...

Weakness with many Christians and non Christians alike is that they pull a couple of verses from the Bible and build their cases right there....the Bible is a whole entity when really studied through ties all the pieces together.....Old Testament is considered Law and New Grace....it is a history book and tells it all the good, the bad, and the ugly...does not hide things except to those who only want to dwell on individual passages instead of of studying the whole...
The old testament is The Law that showed our need for Grace the New Testament full fills this....the old and new testaments are tied together....no constructive discussion can come from this until both have taken the time to study the whole....but that would mean time and of course effort to be educated,,,,kind of like the lawyer preparing fully for a big trial.....up to the task

i don't think of the bible ever expressly condones slavery everywhere, do not say the bible says some thing it would not. It additionally has many opportunities to denounce it that it would not. As a Christian i don't likely understand this thoroughly the two. you're able to desire to bear in concepts that their is a significant distinction in what grew to become into considered slavery interior the bible and what we expect of of slavery. Slavery back then grew to become into greater similar to somebody starting to be a member of themselves to a wealthier guy or woman, to serve them, in substitute for nutrition and safeguard and in all probability a small salary too. it is not say that it in no way in touch what we expect of of(whips and chains and the completed 9 yards) yet that wasn't the generic which skill of the term slavery back then. frequently circumstances it would additionally be for a constrained volume of time and while the slave departed they actually had gained some wealth and fabric products. Im specific some pupils can shed greater mild so I vacate the floor.

No worries, Bruddah. Your bible is working fine.
Back in the day, slave ownership was a common and acceptable practice.
These are just civil regulations to prevent people from owning their neighbors.
If for some reason, your bible starts saying things about downloading content from the internet...Or, whether a female has to give it up on the 3rd date-if the male pays everytime; that would be cause for alarm.

I, do believe that you read lev 25:44-46 incorrectly here's is what it really says: Israel was permitted to have slaves of the heathen. Their children would also be slaves perpetually. This should be viewed as a form of the just judgement of God, upon the wicked and idolatrous practices of the heathen but it must differ from modern slavery which was not commanded of God. What was really ment it that were to be treated as bondsman and get a honest days pay for a honest days work. And after a period of time be set free. I am happy to say that God did not condone slavery. And people have a tendency to read something from the bible and take it to mean what they want it to mean. And that is why God also said I will do to you what you did of your brother when you took them as slaves...........

Your in the Old Testament again, aren't you? The Old Testament or covenant was taken away when Jesus died on the cross. Anyone wishing to hold on to any part of the Old Law, God says that "Ye are severed from Christ, ye would be justified by the law; ye are fallen away from grace" (Gal. 5:4). We live and are governed by the New Testament, NOT the old. :)

Slavery was a normal part of all society, including and especially atheists. However, Christians came together and overwhelmingly eradicated slavery from the worlds super powers.
And only in non-Christianized countries do you find slavery existing and protected by their government today.
Sudan, Yemen, China.
How did one become a slave in Biblical times? 1) Sold self to pay debts, or 2) born as descendant of 1, 3) lost to slavery as result of war.
How did one become a slave post-Biblical times? Captured and sold by members of their own society. Negroes were captured and sold by negroes. Scots were captured and sold by Scots.
So who was the greater sinner...the one who sold himself or his offspring, or the one who bought them?
Was abuse of slaves allowed in Biblical times?
Who is better off...a Biblical slave or a modern person working for minimum wage?
Biblical slaves had a home, clothing, food, job, families, celebrations, rights.
Minimum-wage earners can not afford on their own any of the above.
So it was not the same system of slavery. It was not evil.
But slavery became evil and by then it needed to be eradicated.
Who eradicated it?
Christianity.
Where does it remain?
Anti-Christian countries.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Depending on where you are in your walk with the Lord and where you are in your understanding of the bible, God will answer all questions that He feels you are spritually mature enought to handle and not a moment sooner.

Why do you keep asking the same question? If you're not satisfied with the answers you've been given, you're unlikely to get different answers only ten minutes later.
So my answer is: see the answers you received a few moments ago in your first question.

That is one of the many reasons I don't agree with a lot of the book.. human beings no matter age are not objects. We are each precious and should not be considered property.

The Old Testament is old, the new testament is also old, that's why the Book of Mormon exists, to fit into the new Era of Christianity.
We can look at both Testaments and see things that are out of date, and we can see things that are perfectly relevant.
The Book of Mormon tries to update both of them without taking away or adding, to fit the needs of a more modern age.
