I have a candlestand that has these notches sticking out of it (there are 7 spots), i thought it would be easy placing the candles on the candlestand but apparently there must be some way to easily place the candles on it, i've tried screwing the candles on (as is), and even warming the base of the candles a little bit but it doesn't work, instead there is a big mess of wax powder under the candle base.

Are you talking taper candles? If so, don't just warm them a "little bit"...melt them til they drip, turning them til the ends are even, then put them on the candlestick and wait til they cool......blow them cool, if you can't wait. Works for me. Patience is all that is required.

Drill a small hole in the bottom of them, or make on by turning the tip of a sharp knife on the bottom, over a trash can! ~Good Luck~
