Yes I believe you should contact him and wish him a Happy Birthday. However I think it would be better to send him best wishes on his special day either by email or a text message. It sounds to me that you are not over him, and hearing his voice over the phone may be something that you can't handle fully right now. It's just too soon. But please send him an email or an online birthday card that you can personalize. Either of those would be best and I'm sure he'll appreciate the sentiment. Good luck.

Calling him would be a nice gesture, but that should be the only reason you are doing it. Don't think calling him will change anything though. You both had reasons for your break-up and those aren't going to change in a week, if ever. Break-ups are hard to deal with and you just have to give yourself a little bit of time to accept it. Good luck.

Send him a nice card. Then there is no chance you will turn into a blubbering ex on the phone. You still wished him a happy birthday and you don't come out of it looking foolish.

I would call him or send him a nice text message. It's not like you've been broken up for a long time.

No. You haven't even given yourself time to get over him. Every time you have contact with him, it will set you back.

do it. it is obviously a concern of yours. it would probably be better if you could leave a message so he doesn't get the wrong idea

i would text him and leave it at that.. if he replies, maybe you could take it further
but you don't wanna look desperate by making sure you call
