Yes, I believe they can. However, if there is a strong sexual attraction, it would be difficult to maintain this.

No.. at any cost they cant be palonic mates for a long stay.. like at some situation they cannot resist their temptation towards theri inner feelings, so by nature way they cannot stay as planonics..
this is my opinion!

absolutely - my best mate is a guy - we've been mates since we were 13 - 16 years on and we still confide in each other just as much now as we did then. We never EVERY got it on and I maintain thats why the friendship has survived as long as it has

Of course! Any two people with respect and understanding can be friends. It is important to have good mutually agreed upon boundaries. But the most important is the loving respect.

OF COURSE I Have plenty of girl freinds and im damn fine :) though I would say it depends on the couple if there is a spark or not if there is it will be a lot harder for feeling not to grow for you or him

Very difficult.
I had a platonic female friend for years and years, then we ended up in bed and, although we are still 'friends' it changed everything for us and we have both never mentioned that night again.
