I watch some of the multimillionire televangelist on tv(rarely), politicians, etc. A lot of them believe if Jesus were here today-he'd be a card carrying member of the Republican party. Maybe Jesus wants to cut all social spending to fund tax cuts for the rich??
Why do some people think Jesus is a Republican?

After watching the 2004 Bush/Kerry debates, it was very clear to me that Jesus is a Democrat. And here is why I came to this conclusion…
1. Jesus was hated by the right-wing religious leaders of his day:
* They hated Jesus because he opposed their outdated,
narrow-minded teachings
*They called him the devil because he didn’t go by the rules
when he healed people on the Sabbath Day
*The incident with the whip in the synagogue probably didn’t
help matters
2. Jesus was liberal in his thinking:
*He drank wine
*His friends were “sinners” according to the religious leaders
*He went with the flow and did not have an agenda
3. Jesus was known as the Prince of Peace:
*He was against violence (war)
*He once intervened to save a woman from the death penalty
when the right-wing religious party wanted to stone her for
adultery
4. Jesus was a hero of the common man:
*He paid special attention to this group and criticized the
religious leaders for exploiting them
*He did not cater to the rich
5. Jesus participated in humanitarian welfare:
*He believed in and provided free health care for all
*He fed the multitudes
*He gave to the poor
6. Jesus never spoke against the gay community:
*He was not homophobic as exemplified by letting one of his
disciples, John, snuggle with him
So, why do the Republicans think they have a corner on the Jesus market?
They obviously do not know what Jesus really stood for. . . democratic views.

Because of Jorje Bush. He brought it into his campaign. He established that you couldn't be a Christian if you were not Republican. Throughout the entire bible Jesus warned how difficult it is for a rich person to even enter heaven referring to all that they must give up. The whole idea that Jesus even resembles any party is ridiculous. I would say he is closer to a partyless or independent because His focus would be more aimed towards what is the right thing for humanity as a whole. One thing is for sure...He's got my vote!

Jesus by very nature stood for conservative values, which seem to only be on the Republican agenda.
With regard to money, would you rather have a well funded welfare system and double the unemployment like europe? The republican philosophy wisely gives breaks to small and big business in order encourage it! Through encouraging big business, everyone can have a job! I dont know about you but Id rather have a job than a welfare check!

Because the christian far right are republicans and if you are not one of them, you are against them. So.. in their minds, Jesus would not be against them.
However, my personal opinion is that Jesus would be a member of the green party and would be the running mate of Ralph Nader.

Believing Jesus would be a Republican is a way of working through their guilt for being selfish and dictatorial, the antithesis of Jesus.

Wow, that's a good question! I've never really thought about it. My opinion, however, is that Jesus would actually be a Democrat, because he was Jewish, and most Jewish people are Democrats. (By the way, I don't mean that in a dereogatory way- I'm a Democrat)

I think it's because Jesus supports the death penalty and the war against terrorism. He's big on tax breaks for the rich and subsidizing oil companies as well.
And you know how Jesus hated poor people and the creation of a welfare state.
(the sarcasm is coming across- isn't it?)

Its very obvious that he would be neither......
And despite views to the contrary, tax cuts for the rich always affect the poor.
If u tax a rich guy, he will lay off those working for him to compensate. A tax cut helps all levels, especially when they are not targeted.
