It's spelled shih tzu and the average life-span is 10-14 years but they can live longer than that..Small dogs tend to live longer than the large ones, if given proper care of course. My little yorkie lived until she was 15, or older-she was a stray so I don't know for sure..Keep in mind that any dog is a big commitment, but these little dogs are really needy and will be around quite a few years.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU7FC
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

First of all, the breed name is shih tzu. Secondly, smaller dog breeds tend to generally lead a longer life. A shih tzu can range between 10 and 13 years of age, and like all dogs, the better care, the longer they live (sometimes). You do have to be careful with small dogs and short noses, the shorter their nose the more likely they are to have respiratory infections, kind of like why a pug is always sneezing and sniveling which can make them vary sick if not cared for. The shih tzu is prone to respiratory infections if not cared for in the proper environment.

Some thyroid disorders can be cured, but many require lifetime treatment. Learn here https://tr.im/Ly7gA
For example, sometimes early stage thyroid cancer can be cured by surgery to remove the thyroid gland, but you will need to take thyroid hormone medication afterwards for the rest of your life. Goiters can also be surgically removed and do not always recur after surgery. In most cases, thyroid disorders need treatment over a lifetime. However, with treatment most people with thyroid disorders can live normal, healthy lives.
