mormons don't practice polygamy any more.

Joseph Smith was not a charletan, please stop calling him one.

Because our beliefs are different that the "traditional" doctrines of the Catholic and Protestant churches ie: the Trinity, original sin, belief in additional Scripture, living prophets, salvation by faith, works and obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel, eternal marriage, abstinence from pre-marital sex, abstinence from alcohol and tobacco.

We also have an active faith, which means we are encouraged and required to LIVE our beliefs every day. We also believe that we are the only true Church on the earth today, and that makes people uncomfortable.

People also are uncomfortable with our acceptance of the Book of Mormon as Scripture and our belief in living prophets. People also find it hard to believe that the Lord would restore his Church thru the Prophet Joseph Smith.

We don't practice polygamy, that was discontinued over 100 years ago. Any person today who does practice polygamy is excommunicated.

In the end it needs to be understood that we believe that God has given each person on the earth the right to choose his or her own way. We don't force people into our Church, but we do invite all to "Come Unto Christ" and to partake of his blessings and salvation.

That depends on your definition of brainwashed. I don't believe that there is a campaign of indoctrination, they are taught their beliefs from birth, like most people are in their religions. I would say that they are deluded and misguided. I have belonged to...and have been instructed by several religions, and they all have areas that to non-believers are ludicrous. That is why I am no longer a Mormon. I am a Deist.

Again, ignorance. And really, I would guess that nearly every denomination would like to believe that THEIR way is THE way, and that everyone who doesn't agree with them 100% is...misguided, at best. Perhaps not evil, but certainly not right. As I said before, Southern Baptists, where I am, I'm not saying all of them, will tell you that Catholics are a cult. Which is weird, since Catholicism is actually the first Christian denomination, after all.

I never heard that before.

The only way anyone is brainwashed, is if someone manipulates them, puts words and thought into their heads that aren't theirs. To the point that the person being brainwashed has no since of what had happened, as being wrong.

Hey the people who say we're brainwashed are actually the one's who are brainwashed. Remember we believe in a modern prophet who guides us. While they have Priestcrafts and philosopers. Mean who think you need to go to school to be able to preach the Gospel.

Don't worry your pretty little head ok, your living the truth, you know it and God knows it. God bless.

i think people think that mormons are brainwashed not from all mormons but because of the few that still practice arranged marriges between older men and young girls even though mormons dropped that belief over 100 years ago

The Mormons I've met have been very kind, very genuine people, very happy. In today's world, perhaps being happy = brainwashing to many people? I don't know. I figure if you're happy, keep up whatever you're doing.

The founder of the region, Joseph Smith, was a well known charletan. he made his living pretending to be able to tell people where to dig for buried treasure on their property- before it was arrested and put in jail for it.

Then- being the charismatic salesman that he was- created a fantastic story and fools believed him.

One to find a stupider belief system would have to be a Scientologist.

Mormons are gullible and credulous.
