Tiny cloven hoofed techno-gnomes live in your hard drive and monitor your computer 24/7. When they notice something of unusual importance being saved into memory, they lock hands and recite an ancient gregorian voodoo ritual that turns your RAM into applesauce and your video card into potatoe pancakes. They then sit back and revel in your pain and anguish as they feast on applesauce and pancakes, a delicious comination! True story.

Your computer is infected with some serious spyware. Apparently it has tapped into your webcam, and is transmitting the details of your life to some Master Controller of the Universe.
The MCU, realizing that you are already at a high stress level, thought this would be a fine example of "How to push a human to the edge".
Your reaction to the situation is currently being watched all across the galaxy, and many start systems currently have a wagering pool to see how much more you can take before you crack.

Murphy's law is THE basic law of the universe. That means your computer / car will break down o screw with you at the very worst moment to do so and will requiere a ton of money / time to get fixed.
Only solution I know is to do your best to do things with plenty of time to spare (frequent backups and a spare PC would help too).

How about loosing points at a school exam because the OS simply crashed? :)). You have to learn to save everything you do because you'll never know when it will let you down :)).
