In Koran was creation made isntantly, 6 days, or 8 days?

Does this aya not say that God creates instantaneous? Does this really leave room for billions of years of development?

Six days are still pretty quick and acceptable in the range of "Be! And it is" given the massive size of the universe and the complexity of life ..., but wouldn't it be quite a stretch to translate Sura 2:117 as "When He decreeth a thing, He saith unto it only: Be! And it finally came to pass after about 10 billion years."?

First of all, Peace to u. i want to thank u for enquiring abt my Religion 'Islam'.
First let me clear the concept of when ALLAH (GOD) says : "Be! And it is", so that thing happens instantly, as GOD is Not bounded by time, and HE is Beyond Everything. It is NOT true that it takes 10 billion yrs to happen.
Now, to the main part of ur question:
2+4+2=8, right?!!
But, it is the fault of the translator that u r viewing it like this. if u would have Read The Holy Quran in Arabic, the actual word used (in Arabic) is Not translated to 'then', its Actual Translation is 'Moreover' or 'Simultaneously'. If u would have known Arabic and Read The Holy Quran, u wouldn't have doubted It. For example:
If i m constructing a building, and i say it took me 2 months to build a complete structure, then it took me 4 months to have the finishing done, simultaneously (or moreover) it took me 2 months to build the boundary wall around it. This would mean :
2+4=6 (the extra 2 days happenned simultaneously with 4 days, so No need to count them again and they will be counted in 4 days only).

First Point: Day in these verses from Quran is not the same day as the earth day (No earth means no 24 hours cycle of the day)

Second Point: If God wills he can order for things to happen instantaneously.

Third Point: The universe (or all that exists) was not made instanteneously.

Fourth Point: The universe (or all that exists) was ordered to be and in order to reach its completely developed stage it took 6 days (Not the days we are familiar with). It seems God decided not to do it instantaneously.

Fifth Point: I did my maths homework in 2 days. I did my science homework in 4 days. I did my english language homework in 2 days. Thus I completed my work in 6 days. But 2+4+2=8. It means I did my english language homework in 2 days of the 6 days (2+4 for maths and science) that I was also working on maths and science. So I completed my work in 6 days.

God knows the best. All knowledge lies with Him and He gives only that he wises to give.
