yes, with proper training, any dog of any age can still be taught obedience lessons and tricks, as long as what you are teaching it is within its ability (i.e. we taught our 5 year old shepherd agility training things like jumping benches and crawling through tubes, but we couldn't teach our 10 year old shepherd. he's smart enough to learn, but has a bad knee and isn't physically capable, but you can tell he'd love to try)

Some dog breeds are better at obedience than others...

Yes, you can train an older dog tricks, it will just take longer, so older dogs are quick learners while others are not, you need to start small and work your way up to the more difficult tricks, because older dogs are not as patient as puppies are when you try to teach them things they don't know.

Yes, yes, yes. While it is true that puppies learn faster than some older dogs all dogs can learn. I have a 7 & 1/2 yaer old border collie that I clicker train each day and he loves to learn new things, silly, silly things.

Yes even an old dog can learn a new trick.
It is having the time and patience to teach one a trick.
Work with your dog on what ever you want him to learn and take your time and be sure to have fun.

Yes, you just have to spend time working on it with him..It's easier to train a puppy but older dogs will learn too. Of course some breed are easier to train than others but they can all learn with a little work...

Yeah Id say so. Patience, perserverence and fun will be the key factors. Go for it, teach that old dog new tricks. What have you got to lose?

yes, its easier to teach them as a puppy but i taught my dog new tricks when he was older. i'm pretty sure that you can teach them at any age it just takes a little more effort and time when they are older.

definetly my standard poodle was 11 years old and still learning tricks it depends on the dog and how consistent you are with working with your pet.

the final thank you to coach any canines is by using valuable reinforcement. Use treats, compliment and different "solid stuff" to coax your canines into the trick which you fairly want him to do. occasion: coaching my canines to take a seat down meant that I confirmed her a manage. I slowly moved the manage up over her head so as that she of course sat down (attempting to realize it). I stored repeating "take a seat" in a very magnificent, gentle voice so as that she might associate the command with the action (and with the manage). at last i became able to alter compliment (petting, numerous "solid woman!" etc) for the manage. Even person canines can study new tricks. in basic terms in basic terms be sure you artwork with your canines for a minimum of a jiffy each and every day. in any different case, it will take longer to your canines to "get it."
