its not the teeth that r chattering but the muscles in ur cheek. since all is attached u think ur teeth r what is moving but it the muscles reacting to the cold and trying to keep the face warm and blood flowing in th eface. if ur body didnt react that way u would freeze

the body moves muscles to stimulate warmth... movement makes our body heat up and create homeostasis..so when you shiver and your teeth chatter your body is trying to get you moving to get warm...same thing with cooling down is why we sweat.
