The first statement of our beliefs is: "We believe in God the Eternal Father, in his Son, Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost."
The LDS, or Mormon, faith is a Christian faith, we believe in Jesus Christ and we invite all to 'Come Unto Him'. We also believe in the Bible and in the Book of Mormon, as another testament of Jesus Christ. We believe in the atonement of Christ and are taught that he is the way to salvation.
We don't follow the traditions of men and and the mainstream Christian churches, and for some people this is unacceptable. The best way for anyone to learn and to find out for themselves if we are indeed a Christan Church is to GO to a Mormon service, and to ask their Mormon neighbors to teach them about what we believe.

Shelleygirl, people don't think that we are christians because we believe that there is more to God then what is in the bible. The Christians would rather win an arguement with a dead prophet then lose to a Modern. There's many reasons people say we are not christian. It bothers a lot of people, but remember this when Christ comes and declares our church, HIS church, just imagine the look on everyone's face.

Be wary of any church that says that the only way to heaven is by being a member of our church and performing certain rituals. A very good book to read is "The Kingdom of the Cults" It explains why The Latter Day Saints, The Jehovah Witnesses, the Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and others are considered cultic. Cults have some particle of truth but they also have some complete misconception on the role of Jesus in salvation. This is a big subject and you need to search for yourself. I wish you wisdom and understanding through reading of the word of God.

I think it's because the popular focus regarding Mormons is on Joseph Smith, his suspect background, the Mormon way of life, polygamy and other very 'non-Jesus-like' aspects of the religion.
Also, very many people don't know that the LDS church and Mormons are the same thing. True story.
Bottom line, because Mormons are seen as much more of a religion onto themselves as opposed to other Christian sects.

They are not christians they are a cult. One reason is the book of morman--this is supposedly a books of the bible based on the belief that Jesus also ministered to the native americans. It was written by mormons not deciples of christ and is not the inspired word of God. Also they are a cult of exclusion not inclusion. They do not believe you can marry outside of the mormon religous community, and the also speak of Jesus and the devil being brothers. It is also against the Bible to be a poligamist. People alwas say well if it is wrong then why did Solomon have over 700 wives--well the Bible clearly states that it was a sin for Solomon too.

Some people only think about the polygamous side of the Mormon church...which really isn't a Mormon church anyway. Mormons are Christian...very christian in fact. They have stricter rules than even the Catholics!

Their concept of deity, and the birth death and resurrection of Christ are not Biblical. In fact they think he had kids and traveled around the world and founded the Native American societies, which is expressly conflicting with the scriptures.
They also believe that their most devout believers will become gods of their own star systems as a reward for devotion, which is in direct conflict with what the Bible teaches that there is only one God and every other god is a false god. Their arrogance to believe they become gods is exactly the arrogance of Satan who also said he would be like the Most High.
They also think if you are a ***** or other non-white person then you are that color because of sin, and you have already lost your chance to become a god.

Mormons have a different belief than Christians.
Mormons think Jesus and Satan are brothers. Christians don't.

They believe Christ to be a prophet and reject that He is God and the risen Savior. Since accepting Christ as Savior is the requirement for being saved...well, they are not Christians are they?
