I have a husky mix and a sharpei, I walkk them 30 ins in the morning and 30 to 40 minis in the evening!
It best to split the walks even if you manage 15 mins AM and a longer walk at night

Well preferably golden retreivers should be walked a couple times a day. I know about 50 people who have retreivers, and they walk their dogs in the early morning, late morning, afternoon, and night. The walks dont even have to be that long. Just like 30 minutes for each walk because golden retreivers have a lot of energy.

Goldens and Labs are very high energy dogs. A 45 minute walk would help, but might not be enough exercise, especially if it is younger. Maybe the walk in addition to some retrieving of a ball or rope - they love to do that!

I have worked at a Veterinary Clinic for many years. Recommended play/walk time for a golden retriever, lab or the mix of...1 hr a day. You can split this up or all in one outing. This is the minimum. I have a 5 yr old golden lab/shepherd mix. He gets an average of 1 hr a day still. If we go somewhere on the weekends, park, camping or such it is 3 hrs a day.

Dogs need regular exercise just like people. However, a 30-45 minute walk is probably more than a lot of dogs get (unfortunately).

For a very low energy lab this might work but most are going to need way more run time than that.
My parents have a lab who spends about 12 or more hours per day chasing a tennis ball. She is one of the most high energy dogs I have seen.

I've got a 2 year old lab and if she was only walked for 30-45mins a day she'd be demented. She gets taken to the park upto 3 times a day for a run. Doesn't have to be for ages, say 20 minutes a time just to let her blast off some energy. they tend to have weight problems if not exercised properly which can lead to them going off their legs so I'd say get her/him out as much as you can.

You can answer this question yourself. Is 30 -45 minutes what you are doing or what you are thinking of doing? Look at your dogs, are they overweight, lazy, skinny, hyper, begging for food and attention. The dogs will tell you. Exercise is important for every dog. Some need more than others.

I've only the energy for one walk a day with my pit, but I do about 45-60 min.... and I have a big yard. Still, I think he'd be happier if I could do it more than once a day... well, maybe when the weather cools a bit...
